Chapter 512
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 512
âDonât look at me like that. When I was leaving with Jayleen, I saw someone capturing Yerickâs men.
Thatâs why I waited for you here,â Nadia explained, quickly discerning that Cynthia was doubting her
story.
âWhat if I hadnât returned?â Cynthia asked.
In that final moment, without Joshuaâs preparedness, she was not sure she could have made it back.
âThatâs not possible. Youâre my mentor, after all,â Nadia confidently stated.
Cynthia remained silent
She got up and fetched two glasses of water, one for Nadia and one for herself.
âUm..â Nadia hesitated.
Cynthia arched an eyebrow. âIf thereâs something you want to say, say it. â
âWhat are you planning to do with the child youâre carrying?â Nadia scratched her head. Ever since she
discovered that the stunning Cynthia was her mentor, she had felt an unconscious need to care for her.
âYou and Joshua are divorced. If you have the baby, he wonât try to take it, will he?â
Cynthia was taken aback. âWhat child?â
âThis one.â Nadia gestured naturally toward Cynthiaâs stomach
Cynthia said nothing.
Having no need to lie anymore, she let her guard down.
Seeing Cynthiaâs silence, Nadia assumed she was considering the matter, âDo you want to keep it?â
âIâm not pregnant. Thereâs no question of wanting or not,â Cynthia admitted frankly. Since Yerick had
been apprehended, there was no need to be cautious about such matters.
âThatâs impossible! Jayleen told me herself. I even checked,â Nadia immediately contradicted.
That was the only way to let Yerick believe that she had a child.
âWhat you discovered was only what I wanted you to know. As for Jayleen, sheâs been working with me
ever since Verick sent her to kill Joshuaâ
Nadia was left dumbfounded.
She began to question everything she thought she knew. âYerick said that Jayleen was the least likely
to betray him.â
That was why Yerick was so infuriated when he found out Jayleenâs phone system had been locked.
He could not accept Jayleenâs betrayal.
âHe was mistaken, Jayleen is the one most likely to betray him. She didnât because she didnât have the
resources, and she was also threatened,â Cynthia began, her voice steady.
âWhat happened between them?â Nadia was somewhat curious,
She did not know much about Yerickâs personal affairs and dared not pry. At most, she would come
across some information when Yerick asked for her help in searching for information.
âI donât know,â Cynthia responded curtly.
âThat doesnât sound right. Given Yerickâs nature, if he knew Jayleen had betrayed him, thereâs no way
he would have let her go. When you magnanimously let Jayleen go, shouldnât he have suspected
something?â Nalia realized a key point sheâd overlooked.
âHe couldnât have guessed,â was all Cynthia sald.
âWhy not?â Nadia asked.
Cynthia did not respond
In Yerickâs view, Cynthia was K, still working under the Captain. As members of the organization, their
main duty was to follow orders, and they had a responsibility to protect people, so he had no suspicions
âThanks for helping Jayleen. Given that you didnât commit any substantial mistakes and saved people
at the last moment, I wonât have you arrested. However, if you create trouble again, I wonât show
mercy,â Cynthia said, her mind occupied with issues between Joshua and Sean.
âMentor, how can you be so heartless? Iâm still your mentee, after all.â
Nadia kept grumbling
Cynthia went to her study, planning to research something on her computer. Before starting, she told
Nadia, âDonât let your desires get the better of you.â
