Chapter 537
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 537
After successfully sending the message, he turned off his phone and put it away, effectively shutting out
any further muisances. He had finally managed to take Cynthia out to clear her mind, and he would not
allow their day to be spoiled.
The young and handsome coach stared at the message on his screen, his mind buzzing with
confusion. What did âdo us a favor âmean? Undeterred, he dialed the number again.
âThe number you have dialed is currently unavailable.â
The young coach rolled his eyes as Matthewâs car pulled away.
Matthew was never concerned about upsetting people.
By the time the car arrived in town, it was already past four in the afternoon. Matthew took Cynthia
straight home.
There was no point in going to the office at this hour, especially as all the pressing issues had been
dealt with by him and Moe. There was no need for her to worry unnecessarily.
Once home, Cynthia stepped out of the car and into her house.
âThank you for today. I will give you a raise next month,â she turned to say with a touch of formality.
In a casual tone, Matthew responded, âThanks, Boss.â
Cynthia was not accustomed to this address.
âGo and rest. Iâll call you for dinner when itâs ready. I need to earn that raise youâre giving me,â Matthew
advised like a concerned older brother.
âIâ Cynthia began to refuse
However, a single look from Matthew silenced her, and she replied with a simple, âAlright.â
She was not sure if it was just her imagination, but she had a feeling that if she had refused, Captain
would probably have addressed her as Cynthia again.
Once they had each retreated to their respective homes, Cynthia contacted Mitchell. Compared to her,
Mitchell probably understood Captain better, considering they were not just teammates but also fellow
foxes.
After some idle chat via video call, she got to the heart of the matter, âHow do I refuse Captainâs
meals?â
âMeals?â Mitchell adjusted his glasses.
âEvery now and then, Captain invites me over for a meal. Given his past behavior, if he is nice to you, it
probably means youâre in trouble,â Cynthia said with a hint of uncertainty. Even though Captain had
promised not to hold grudges over past events, she was still worried.
Except for that one incident, she could not think of any reason she might have provoked Captain.
Had all that not been in the past now?
Mitchell smiled faintly, secretly musing over the rocky path Captain had traversed in his pursuit of love.
After noticing his expression, Cynthia asked, âWhy are you smiling?â
âWell, you know, Captain has retired,â Mitchell said.
Cynthia stared at him, perplexed. What was that supposed to mean?
Well, now that he isnât the devilish Captain we once knew. We should not judge him based on his past
actions,â Mitchell said.
âWhat do you mean?â Cynthia asked, intrigued.
Mitchell explained, âPerhaps his invitation for you to dine with him is just an innocent act of kindness.
Or, he might be feeling uneasy about living in your house and earning the high salary you provide. He
might just want to return the favor.â
âDo you really think Captain could feel that way?â Cynthia was surprised at the suggestion. She had
always considered Captain. to be quite guarded.
âWell, he was our Captain. He was superior to us in all aspects. However, upon leaving the team and
realizing that we come from rather well-off families, especially you, he might have developed a sense of
inferiority,â Mitchell continued.
Cynthiaâs eyebrows knitted together at this suggestion. Inferiority? Could that word ever be associated
with Captain?
