Chapter 538
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 538
âCyn, itâs normal for a man to have an ego, especially Captain. When he invites you over for dinner, just
accept. It might make him feel better about himself,â Mitchell insisted.
âAre you serious?â Cynthia found this hard to believe. To her knowledge, Captain was not such a man.
However, Mitchellâs words did seem to hold some logic.
âIf you donât believe me, you can ask Linus and the others. Just donât mention itâs about Captain,â
Mitchell suggested, further advancing his ploy.
Cynthia nodded, and they chatted a bit more before ending the video call. She sat in contemplation,
recalling past events, and eventually concluded that Captain did indeed have a strong ego. She did not
delve into this thought further, though.
Considering Captainâs earlier mention of a group message, she accessed their eightâmember chat
group, where Captain was also a member. She typed a reply, âIâm free recently. Anytime for a meetup
is fine.â
Her obligations toward Seanâs observation under Joshuaâs domain and the responsibilities she took
over from Yoel at Neal Group had been dealt with. As for her company, everything had been arranged
beforehand. Indeed, she was temporarily free,
Riley responded, âThen, tomorrow night.â Gaby and Mitchell quickly agreed. The others, including
Jimmy, also indicated their availability. Only Matthew did not reply.
Riley and Gaby tried to grab his attention in the group chat but to no avail.
Just then, there was a knock on Cynthiaâs door. As she opened it, she saw Captain holding his phone,
a look of frustration on his face. âI need a favor.â
âHm?â
âMy phone has a virus.â
Cynthia opened the door wider to let him in. She recalled that Captainâs phone was a new purchase
after his retirement, and she had not yet helped him upgrade its system.
âDonât turn it on,â Matthew warned her as he saw her pressing the power button.
However, his warning came too late. As soon as she pressed the button, the phone began to vibrate
violently, a cheerful tune ringing out from the device.
The voice emanated from the phone, a catchy and slightly irritating time. It chanted over and over, âIâm
Matthew. My mom hasnât hit me for three days!â The words scrolled across the screen in time with the
beat.
Even Cynthia was taken aback, her usual composure shaloon for a brief moment. Matthew, sporting his
short, neat haircut that added to his handsome and energetic appearance, did not seem bothered at all.
He lifted an eyebrow casually, asking, âCan you fix this?â
âYes,â Cynthia answered without hesitation. She took the phone and retreated to her study.
For her, this was a minor issue. With effortless efficiency, she not only rectified the problem but also
strengthened the security of his phone system. Once she was done, she handed the phone back to
Matthew, curiosity getting the best of her.â Did you upset somme?â
âUhâhuh.â
âDo you want my help?â
There was a brief pause before Matthewâs lips curled into a faint smile. âIf you wouldnât mind, could you
embed the phrase Mom, come hit me into Zayn Greenâs phone, so it plays every time he powers on or
off?â
Cynthia stared at him in surprise. She never knew the Captain could have a fun side of him.
âCanât do it?â Matthewâs voice held a challenge.
After a momentâs consideration, Cynthia agreed, âI can do it.â
âIâll call him first. Half an hour after I hang up, you can embed it.â Matthewâs schemes were notorious;
nobody could escape
them.
