Chapter 545
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
chapter 545
âOther employees bringing breakfast for the boss is normal. But Captain, ask yourself, was your
intention of bringing breakfast to Cyn really innocent? You havenât forgotten about that time you gave
me a bottle of water and made me run ten kilometers carrying weights, have you?â Alex chimed in.
âI also remember the time you brought me food and tripled my training,â Linus added.
Matthew, seemingly unconcerned, sat there, a challenging undertone in his voice, âAre you criticizing
me?â
Alex and Linus were taken aback, Damn, they walked right into a trap.
âSo, are you really going to give Cyn a hard time?â Riley concluded.
Before Matthew could respond, Cynthia, who had been listening to their conversation in a dazed state,
suddenly sat up. With slightly unfocused eyes, she looked over at him and asked in a soft voice,
âCaptain, didnât you promise not to hold a grudge? How can you go back on your word?â
Perhaps because she was still under the influence of alcohol, her voice and manner were somewhat
childlike, which made Riley and the others want to pinch her cheeks. In fact, Riley and Gaby did just
that.
Matthew rose to his feet. His tall frame was accentuated by his long legs. âStay safe on your way
home. I will take Cynthia back first.
During his brief address, he had begun walking toward Cynthia.
âWhy arenât you saying anything?â she asked as he was about to lead her away.
âWeâll talk later,â Matthew responded, pulling her up from Rileyâs side. His voice was deep and
indulgent, as though he were trying to soothe her. âDo you want me to carry you, or do you want to
walk?â
Cynthia shook her head, her voice muffled, âI can walk on my own.â
âAlright,â Matthew complied, always willing to listen to her. Once he confirmed she could walk, he
turned back to the group. and instructed with care in his voice, âDonât drive after drinking. Call a driver.
Let the group know when you get home.â
âOkay..âThe group was somewhat slow to react.
However, Matthew paid them no mind, leading Cynthia away.
Once he left, the atmosphere in the private room shifted. There were looks of confusion, and surprise
was particularly evident on the faces of Riley and Gaby.
âI feel like Captain is acting⦠a bit strange toward Cyn, doesnât he?â Riley was the first to comment.
Gaby nodded in agreement. âIâve known Captain for a while, but Iâve never seen him be so gentle with
anyone.â
âDoes that mean Cynthia is in deep trouble? Even worse than what happened to Little Linus and Alox?â
Jimny chimed in, genuine concern in his naive eyes,
Riley and Gaby exchanged glances.
They somehow did not think that was the case.
âCould there be a possibility. That our austere and indifferent Captain⦠likes Cyn?â Alex suggested
hesitantly.
Linus pondered the scene they had just witnessed. âI think thatâs highly likely.â
If they were the ones drunk, Captain would just pick them up and carry them home. There was no way
he would have asked so gently whether they wanted to be carried or to walk on their own. Something
was definitely up!
âMitchell the Fox, what do you think?â Alex asked, passing the question onto him.
Mitchell chuckled enigmatically without revealing too much. âDidnât I tell you all? Captain is just being
very nice to Cyn.â
