Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 546
1/2
Everything clicked into place for the group.
âYou knew all along?â Linus asked.
âDonât discuss this with Cyn. Neither help nor hinder. Especially you two,â Mitchell advised, paying
special attention to Riley and Gaby,
Everyone knew how close Riley and Gaby were to Cynthia. They were as clase as could be. Without
warning, they might turn around and spill everything to Cynthia, who would probably avoid Captain if
she knew his feelings.
âCaptain really kept his feelings well hidden.â Riley sighed, feeling reassured. âHe must have had
feelings for Cyn even before he retired, right? When did it start?â
âI donât know,â replied Mitchell truthfully,
No one knew when Captain had started having feelings for Cynthia, Captain was a person who clearly
distinguished between public and private matters. Even when he was in training and obviously had
feelings for Cynthia, he never went easy on her.
On further thought, it seemed perfectly reasonable.
âIndeed, thatâs a relief. No one would dare to bully Cyn when sheâs with the Captain,â Gaby agreed, her
anxiety visibly lessened.
The matter was mutually and tacitly kept secret among them all As Mitchell had put it, they could
neither assist nor obstruct. Everyone in the small team knew about it except Cynthia herself.
Upon leaving the club, Matthew did not immediately escort Cynthia home. Instead, they strolled around
the nearby area to unwind. Initially, Cynthia walked on her own, but as she began to st agger, pausing
every few steps, Matthew decided to carry her
âCaptain, you havenât answered my question yet,â Cynthia murmured from Matthewâs back, her eyes
still shut but her voice persistent.
âSince when did I say Iâd keep count of our past matters?â Matthewâs voice was pleasant and relaxed.
Surrounded by such a soothing voice, Cynthia felt as if she was enveloped in a warm and comfortable
environment like at gentle breeze was brushing past her. Without overthinking, she voiced her
thoughts, âThen why do you bring me breakfast and invite me to eat at your place?â
âBecauseâ¦â Matthewâs words trailed off, leaving the sentence unfinished. He wanted to say that it was
because he liked her, but Cynthia, though somewhat intoxicated, was not completely drunk. If she
heard what he meant to say now, she might slip away the next day and not see him.
Cynthia was still listening, âWhat?â
âI care for my divorced teammates. Or perhaps treating the boss well will benefit my career.â Matthew
found a convenient
excuse
âThatâs not right,â Cynthia said seriously.
Matthew raised an eyebrow in surprise. âOh?â
âYouâre not that kind of person.â Even though she was drunk, Cynthia was confident in her
understanding of her captainâs
character.
Matthew merely smiled and continued walking with Cynthia on his back Cynthia felt her mind spinning.
Thoughts about Joshuaâs accident and the Captain swirled around in her mind, twisting and turning like
a ball of yarn in a kittenâs play, creating a messy whirl.
Upon arriving home, Matthew prepared some honey water for her to prevent her from waking up with a
headache. Although it could not completely sober her up, it could at least alleviate some discomfort
from the intoxication.
Chapter 54b
After ensuring her comfort, he finally informed the team in the group chat about their arrival home.
[Riley: Make some honey water for Cyn, so she wonât wake up with a headache.]
[Matthew: Already done.J
