Seeing that Sean was not speaking up, Cynthia asked again, “Is he conscious at the moment?”

“He was awake for a while this morning, but he’s back asleep now. I’ll let you know when his condition

share the real situation with her.

“You’re hiding something from me,” Cynthia stated confidently.

Cynthia fell silent. Sean’s hand holding the phone began to sweat. He was gambling on the fact that K

would not resort to her hacker skills lightly. The K he knew would only employ such tactics for

significant matters. However, if she did use them, she could easily unearth the truth.

“How is his external injury healing?” Cynthia shifted the topic.

“They’ll remove the stitches tomorrow. His recovery is going well. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of

him,” Sean reported, offering this piece of information freely.

“I’ll come over,” Cynthia declared.

Sean blinked in surprise.

“I’m simply standing in for the patient’s family to understand his condition. I have to keep Uncle Felix

updated on Joshua’s progress from time to time,” Cynthia clarified her reasons.

“Alright, Sean agreed, somewhat reluctantly.

After hanging up the phone, Cynthia and Matthew set off for Sean’s base. On the other side, Sean

made preparations to receive

them.

By the time they arrived at the base, it was already eleven. Donned in a white coat, Sean greeted them

with a warm smile. While he appeared friendly, no one could really decipher his thoughts. He looked at

Matthew standing beside Cynthia and felt

to Joshua’s room. He pressed a switch on

le wall, and soon, the wall parted to reveal a large transparent window.

Joshua did not look much different from before. His complexion was no longer pale, but it still lacked

color. His deep–set eyes were tightly slut as if immersed in a deep sleep,

“Ms. Yates, given that Joshua duesar’t want to get entangled with you any further, it might be better if

you inform me whenever you need updates can then relay the information over the plane. What do you

think?” Sean began once he noticed they had not detected anything amiss.

Cynthia pursed her lips, not saying a word. Even now, she felt there was something off about the

situation that day.

“Ms. Yates?” Sean prompted again
