Being overly affectionate would not benefit Joshua much once he recovered. Hence, it was better to

care for him, show concern, and maintain a distance.

“Let’s ask Sean about it the day after tomorrow, Matthew added, uncertain as well.

Cynthia agreed, and they continued to chat casually before she and Shirley returned in their room.

When they got back, Joshua had locked himself in his bedroom.

Cynthia asked Shirley to freshen up. Then, she knocked on Joshua’s door, intending to talk to him.

She knocked several times, but there was no response from Joshua. In the end, Cynthia had to call

him, “Joshua, it’s me. Can you open the door?”

A faint clicking sound came after a moment of silence, and the door opened.

Joshua appeared sad as he greeted Cynthia with a muffled voice, “Yes, Cynthia?”

“Does your hand still hurt?” Cynthia glanced at his reddened hand from washing.

Joshua pursed his lips. He was about to say it hurt, but then he remembered that Cynthia liked manly

men, so he immediately. shook his head.

“It doesn’t hurt.”

“Come here. I’ll apply some ointment for you.”

“Okay.”

Cynthia gently disinfected and applied the ointment to his hand. Throughout the process, she observed

his small gestures and behavior.

As if having a normal conversation, she asked him, “Do you want to see your mom and dad?

“Why not?” Cynthia asked.

“I only want you.”

“Aren’t you afraid your mom and dad will be sad?”

“No.”
