Chapter 142 I Just Realized Today That You Love Me

Lu Jinye waggled his hand at Linda irritably, beckoning for her to leave. Just before she left, Lu Jinye

told her to turn off the lights in the office, drowning him in darkness.

The only source of light came from the outside world, where everyone else lived, while he only wanted

to cage himself in the momentary quietness and blackness.

However, it did not last long until a series of door-knocks sounded from the door.

“Come in,” muttered Lu Jinye peevishly. Light took over the office space instantly.

Standing by the door, after switching on the lights, Linda was a little restless. Looking at Lu Jinye’s

annoyed expression, she said helplessly, “Ch-chairman, did you put your personal phone on silent?

Home had just called the secretary’s office and told me to inform you.”

“Which home?”

After his divorce from Mu Zhi, Lu Jinye rarely used the word ‘home’. Thus, when Linda mentioned that

word, he was briefly confused as to which home she was referring to.

“The Lu’s Manor, the butler called, asking you to make your way there at once.”

“Is that so?”

Lu Jinye arched his brows, studying Linda coldly and arrogantly.

Linda stood up straight, answering, “I guess… It might be related to the marriage announcement that

was released lately?”

The solemn and murderous air then quickly dispersed from Lu Jinye. He gulped down the glass of

water that was sitting on the desk, then look at Linda with his usual poise, ordering, “Got it. Make a call

to Qingqing and told her to wait for me at the villa entrance, we will make our way to the Lu’s Manor

together.”

“Sure.”

Linda was more relieved to see Lu Jinye reverting to his usual poise. She then hurriedly saw Lu Jinye’s

request.

Half an hour later, Lu Jinye picked up Xiao Qingqing in a timely fashion.

When she heard that they were heading to the manor, Xiao Qingqing promptly wore some makeup.

She had heard about Master Lu’s preference, so she only wore some light makeup. Draping her well-

kept hair over her shoulders, she chose to wear a classic, black Chanel dress to go with a baby pink

handbag. The round toe flats did a spectacular job amplifying her elegant ambience.

However, Lu Jinye merely looked at her for five seconds before telling her to get into the car, and set off

for the Lu’s Manor.

Throughout the journey, Lu Jinye did not say a word to her.

“Do you think… There might be an issue today? I mean, Master Lu never likes me.” Although she had

a clear idea, Xiao Qingqing insisted to put up a sheepish front.

Lu Jinye parked his car, turned to Xiao Qingqing, and responded.

A contented smile immediately formed on Xiao Qingqing’s face. That was what she wanted to hear.

She scurried up to Lu Jinye, held his arm, and entered the manor with him.

The Lu’s Manor was filled with solemn air. The first person they met was Lu Yunxi, who was currently

playing games. When he noticed Xiao Qingqing and Lu Jinye’s appearance, he did not even raise his

eyes, before asking, “Jinye, PUBG, chicken dinner?”

Lu Jinye glanced at Lu Yunxi, and responded, “When have you ever seen me play such games?”

Lu Yunxi then put down his phone, and stood to his feet, gradually approaching Lu Jinye, saying,

“Hehe, true, the Jinye I know prefers real people.”

Lu Yunxi laced those few words with a sarcastic tone, making Xiao Qingqing, who was standing next to

them, uneasy.

Firstly, she did not play games. Thus, she had no idea what game Lu Yunxi was referring to. But the

emphasis on the word ‘chick’ made her feel restless.

Secondly, Lu Yunxi followed by mentioning ‘real people’, making it sound like Lu Jinye was a

womanizer.

However, Lu Jinye was not bothered by Lu Yunxi, he uttered, “Is Master Lu upstairs? I’ll go see him.”

time. They say that there might be two great news in the Lu Family today.”

In between his words, a flurry of approaching footsteps had sounded outside the door.

Everyone turned their attention to the door when Lu Leiming and Xu Changshu gradually made their

entrance. Behind them was a woman. The woman rocked a pair of crystal heels to go with a crimson

red short dress. She had her hair up in a ponytail, exuding a high-profile and casual temperament.

Her outfit did not suit the occasion at all.

But Xu Changshu showed much courtesy to the woman, saying, “Zhu Sha, take a seat, Junnian will be

back soon.”

As soon as Lu Yunxi heard the name, he burst out in snigger.

who will protect me at all costs!”
