At this, the woman stood stunned. She hesitated and did not move. Mu Zhi looked at her in

puzzlement.

“I just want to use your phone. Is it too much trouble?”

Saving her was convenient enough, so why wasn’t lending her a phone?

Mu Zhi was confused.

“That’s not it at all, Miss. Let me ask.”

The woman was flustered and didn’t give Mu Zhi an explanation before leaving abruptly.

As she watched, the door closed shut and locked tight behind the woman.

Mu Zhi now started to panic. She rushed to the door and turned the knob with all her strength, but to no

Lu Jinye looked at the wall irritably and continued to contemplate.

Xie Xiu was pacing his room. He then left his room and resumed his pacing in the hall.

He kept glancing at the clock on the wall.

He then picked up a cigarette and lit it when his secretary walked in in a hurry.

She quietly bowed and said, “Mr. Xie Xiu, smoking is bad for your health.”

Xie Xiu had quit smoking a while ago.

“It’s also 4 a.m. Time for you to rest.”

“I don’t need to rest.”

Xie Xiu sharply inhaled and said, “Are you done with faking the evidence?”

She nodded earnestly and said, “I’ve completed them. I’ve eliminated the man who played Mu

Xianyong. All that’s left is Xiao Qingqing and Mu Zhi.”

“But we can’t touch Xiao Qingqing,” the secretary hesitated before saying.

She took a breath and added, “Xiao Qingqing is carrying Shen Mobo’s child. If we lay a hand on her,

the Shen Family will not forgive us.”

This pissed Xie Xiu off.

He put out the cigarette in his hand and looked at his secretary, “So, what are you suggesting?”

“Return to America,” she said.

“Impossible.”

“Then form an alliance with Lu Jinye and give up on Mu Zhi,” she hesitated before proposing the

second option.

The secretary looked at Xie Xiu as she spoke.

Xie Xiu immediately shot her down and said impatiently, “Get out.”

She wanted to say more but thought better of it. She sighed helplessly and left without saying anything.

After she had left, Xie Xiu returned to pacing the room. He smoked cigarette after cigarette without

stopping.

Outside the window, the secretary watched as he paced. Her fists were clenching involuntarily.

They had come to City A to expand Xie Xiu’s business. Xie Xiu had always been quick to douse those

who opposed him. She had stayed by his side so many years. Xie Xiu did not sleep much, but had

never lost sleep over someone before.

They had faced many situations at the cost of many lives but Xie Xiu had always been calm.

Why?! Why does he hesitate so much for Mu Zhi…

Just thinking about it saddened her.

With that thought, the secretary started the car and left Xie Xiu’s courtyard to another where his private

jet was parked.

She walked onto the courtyard and told the guard, “Arrange a pilot for me immediately.”

“Rao, we did not receive any notification from Mr. Xie Xiu. May I know what’s the urgency?” The guard

asked her questioningly.

Secretary Rao gaze was bottomless, “Mr. Xie made a last-minute decision. Don’t you believe me?”

Secretary Rao had been with Xie Xiu for many years and was one of his most efficient and cared for

secretary. The guard hesitated and didn’t dare question her any further.

He backed away and immediately notified the aircrew.

Secretary Rao got on the plane when her phone rang.

She looked at her phone and picked it up.

It was the housekeeper, Madam Chan, “Secretary Rao, can I speak to Mr. Xie Xiu? He should be

sleeping now.”

“Yes, Mr. Xie Xiu is resting now. I’ll relay the message,” Secretary Rao said without hesitation.
