Chapter 314 Another Person That Exists

Lu Jinye couldn’t be more familiar with the Xie Residence. And Mu Zhi’s answer confirmed that she

was indeed Xie Xiu’s ‘wife’. Mu Zhi had been with Xie Xiu all this while!

Finally knowing what happened, Lu Jinye fists clenched. He wanted to tear Xie Xiu apart. These years,

Xie Xiu and Lu Jinye didn’t exactly have a relationship. But Xie Xiu’s ambition for Lu Jinye’s position in

City A was obvious.

They were clashing against each other as business competitors.

Lu Jinye had been in the business for many years and had never met an opponent as persistent as

him.

To people in the industry, Xie Xiu always seemed calm and unflappable, but underneath all that was a

raging storm.

Knowing this, Lu Jinye did not dare act rashly.

It wasn’t because he was scared, but… He was worried that any threatening move he made might

result in Xie Xiu moving Mu Zhi.

Lu Jinye kept his cool and said calmly, “Just a normal business partner.”

“So you know each other.”

wondered out loud.

Mu Zhi felt that they had spoken enough and said, “I’m going in then.”

She turned and walked into the courtyard.

Lu Jinye did not stop her. He bid farewell and quickly returned home.

He immediately made a call when he got home.

“Tell me everything Xie Xiu has done in these recent years. I want to know everything especially about

his family and women he had contact with.” Lu Jinye immediately ordered.

“Okay.”

The call ended.

Mu Zhi arrived home to find Xie Xiu making tea in the living room.

Xie Xiu rose when he saw Mu Zhi and asked, “Where did you go?”

Mu Zhi gestured at her phone, “My phone died, and I was stuck outside. It was also raining heavily.”

She didn’t know how long Xie Xiu had been home, but she did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

Xie Xiu quickly followed with another question, “Why did you suddenly decide to come to City A?”

Mu Zhi quickly thought of an excuse when her eyes landed on a piece of clothing on the hanger. “I

remembered that I left some clothes here. I really wanted to wear it but couldn’t find anything similar

where we lived so I made the trip.”

She lied. She didn’t know why she had lied and avoided bringing up Lu Jinye.

Xie Xiu caught on to her guilt in her lies.

It was more than enough for him to see through her.

But he didn’t let her know that he had caught her lying. When Mu Zhi had picked up her clothes, he

approached her and said, “Now that you have your clothes, I’m taking you home.”

Mu Zhi froze and returned the clothes to the hanger. She retrieved her hand and said, “I don’t want to

go home yet.”

“Why don’t you want to?”

Xie Xiu asked her seriously. His gaze was filled with indescribable emotions, but Mu Zhi hid hers well.

Hers showed the usual kindness she always had.

Mu Zhi bit her lip. She didn’t know how to face him and what to say.

Ever since losing her memory, she had never lied to Xie Xiu. So she didn’t know why exactly she was

lying to him. But she knew that she wanted to stay in City A.

Every time they came, a lot of unexpected things happened. Some even unpleasant, but somehow, she

still wanted to stay.

Everyone she had met, everything that had happened to her in City A was strange but felt so real. The

unexplainable feeling grabbed hold of her heart.

At that moment, they heard footsteps coming from upstairs. Eric walked down the stairs and

approached Mu Zhi and Xie Xiu. He was dressed differently than usual in a brightly coloured hoodie.

He asked Mu Zhi innocently, “Mom, look! Should I wear this for dad’s birthday party tomorrow?”

Mu Zhi quickly caught on and said, “It looks good on you.”

She turned back to Xie Xiu and said, “I want to spend your birthday with you.”

Her eyes were filled with sincerity, and she was silently begging him.

“These five years, besides your vigilant protection of me, we don’t really spend much time together,

which is why I’d like to spend more time with you. Let me celebrate your birthday for you.”

Xie Xiu fixed his eyes on her.

He had never spent this much time on her before. But now, he was staring at her so much that Mu Zhi

looked away in embarrassment.

“Okay,” Xie Xiu agreed.

Mu Zhi finally let out a sigh of relief.

“Then I’ll go upstairs and rest a bit,” she quickly said.

Xie Xiu did not want to force the matter any longer and nodded.

However, when she went upstairs, Xie Xiu began to check on the security team he had on her. He also

had his assistant check on the latest update on Mu Zhi’s movements.

He did not say a word regarding Lu Jinye.

Even though he knew that they had met, Xie Xiu couldn’t ask her outright if something had happened

between them.

If possible, he would like to never mention his name.

He didn’t even know why he was being like this. This perverse, warped love he had.

What they found was that Xie Xiu was in a normal husband-wife relationship. And that Mu Zhi’s name

had been changed to Ann.

She had her own birth certificate, her own school records, a graduation certificate and even a work

completely different person that existed.
