Mu Zhi couldn’t help but laugh and said, “I don’t believe you.” Xie Xiu leaned closer and breathed, “And

would you believe me if I said otherwise?”

“I have always seen her as a subordinate.” Xie Xiu added. “I had many women before you. But now, I

only want you.” Xie Xiu told Mu Zhi again.

Mu Zhi didn’t know why she wasn’t feeling particularly heartbroken. Her husband had just told her that

he had relations with other women. She should be devastated. But she wasn’t, nor did she feel

threatened.

At that moment, one of his secretaries knocked on the door.

Xie Xiu allowed entrance. The secretary brought some documents with her. They exchanged some

business jargon before she placed the documents on the table and left.

Because of the sudden intrusion, Mu Zhi and Xie Xiu’s conversation came to a stop.

Mu Zhi didn’t want to talk about other women. She didn’t know why she was so strong emotionally. She

felt that even if he had other women, she would be okay with it.

Xie Xiu noticed Mu Zhi’s unwillingness to continue the topic and did not bring it up.

“You can either have a tour of the company or you could choose to stay here with me. I need to deal

with these documents but after that, we can go out.”

“Where are we going?”

Mu Zhi did not know what Xie Xiu had planned.

In the past, Mu Zhi did not know what Xie Xiu’s job entailed. All she knew was that he was very busy.

She knew what he did but as to how he did it or what he was like at work, she had no clue.

She didn’t know why she had never thought about getting to know him more.

It wasn’t until later that she understood that she had no interest because she did not love him.

But at the time, she had blamed her lack of knowledge on Xie Xiu’s overprotectiveness.

While Xie Xiu started on his work, Mu Zhi stood up quietly and looked around his office. She noticed

how thirsty she was, so she quietly exited his office and made her way to the refreshment bar for a

drink.

She had just arrived when she heard the employees whispering about her.

“Hey, did you guys see the Chairman Xie’s wife?”

“Oh my goodness! She’s so beautiful.”

“The chairman has never brought a woman to the company before.”

The assistant secretaries were all busy gossiping even though they still had work to get to.

Mu Zhi froze. She did not know whether to enter or to leave.

They were gossiping about her after all.

She did not know how to face them, which was why she stood frozen for a while.

When she had finally decided not to intrude, a secretary who had just come from Xie Xiu’s office

passed her and said, “I’ll get you some water.”

She took the glass from Mu Zhi’s hand.

After pouring a glass of water for Mu Zhi, the secretary led her back to the office.

“Why did you decide to come to the company?” The secretary asked by way of chit chat.

The question stunned Mu Zhi slightly. “My husband brought me,” Mu Zhi replied.

“It’s my first time meeting you. You’re very beautiful.”

The secretary was obviously surprised by Mu Zhi’s answer and only answered after a slight pause.

Mu Zhi smiled gently at her and entered Xie Xiu’s office.

Xie Xiu had finished his work.

He stood up and waited for Mu Zhi to finish her water before they left the office.

He brought Mu Zhi to a nearby restaurant, ordered some dishes that he would usually order, and said,

“These are what I’ll usually eat.”

They finished the meal and left.

After that Xie Xiu took Mu Zhi some parks that were close by. Some were for drinking tea and some

were intended for outdoor movies. In any case, they were doing some casual day-to-day activities.

It’s just that these were things that they don’t usually do together.

In the States, whenever Xie Xiu was free, he would spend time with Mu Zhi doing what she wanted to

do and listened to what she enjoyed doing.

Whenever Mu Zhi thought about Xie Xiu, all she could recall was how kind he was to her and nothing

else. It was a very one-dimensional image she had of him.

Xie Xiu did not want to reveal his personal life to her. He was used to keeping himself all wrapped up.

Even in the face of someone he loved, he would unconsciously keep himself under covers.

When he was done bringing her around, he brought Mu Zhi home. Mu Zhi took off her coat and looked

at him. “Why did you decide to bring me along today?”

“I just wanted to show you what I usually do.”

Mu Zhi chuckled at his respond.

“Why did you want to do that?”

Xie Xiu took her hand and pulled her into his embrace. “Because I’m afraid of losing you.”

Mu Zhi did not know what to say to that.

“What does this have to do with that?”

Xie Xiu looked at her solemnly and said, “Ann, I never used to worry over you. I don’t know why but

ever since you left suddenly, I’ve started to worry. I’ve thought of many ways to keep you safe and

untouched, but I found out the best way to keep you with me is to show you who I really am and have

you fall in love with me.”

Xie Xiu had never showed her that he needed her before.

Mu Zhi had never seen him express himself this way.

She was taken aback and did not know how to respond.

After a long while, she finally said, “I won’t leave you.”

She still hadn’t told him about the incident with Lu Jinye.
