Lin Yunan kept quiet for a while. It was a fact that Dongyue had not handled things fairly.

A usual transfer process was not supposed to be handled this way. At the very least, the artiste herself should have been informed of the terms and must have agreed to it first.

“Yes, it’s Dongyue that has let you down. You can choose not to return to Dongyue, but you can’t dump me!” Lin Yunan said.

Dump him?

Big Boss Li’s expression turned dark.

Xia Ling was caught in a fix. “Or, you can come to Skyart?”

“Skyart has no lack of people!” Sister Mai Na would not agree to it.

“Oh, I see. You don’t welcome me? Well, then I will join Skyart.” He was considering it initially, but seeing that Sister Mai Na was against the idea, he wanted to pit himself against her.

“Li Lei!” Sister Mai Na called her boss by his full name. “You’ll allow a person like this to join us?”

Li Lei looked at Sister Mai Na, then at Xia Ling, and finally at Lin Yunan. A moment later, Li Lei smiled. “Lin Yunan, if you can settle Sister Mai Na, then go ahead. I’ve got to take care of my existing employees, don’t you think?”

Lin Yunan clenched his teeth and glared at Sister Mai Na. Why is this woman so difficult to deal with?!

Sister Mai Na glared back.

Xia Ling felt bad about how she left Lin Yunan and quietly said, “How about I compensate you for all your lost youth... and recommend a few other good artistes to you...”

Under his death glare, her voice got softer as she went on.

Sister Mai Na was not going along with that idea. “Stop talking, Xiao Ling. Why would you need to compensate him for any loss? From the very moment he didn’t stop Dongyue from transferring you to Imperial, you’ve lost any relationship with him! He can’t even protect his artiste’s basic rights, what sort of manager is he?!”

“In that situation, would you have been able to stop it?” Lin Yunan was enraged. Back then, it was Chu Chen who was sent to represent Imperial Entertainment and spoke to Dongyue. Imperial had promised generous rewards for this transaction, and at the same time issued threats if they were to disagree to it. At that point, the big boss of Dongyue had no better choice than to terminate their contract with Xiao Ling immediately.

In any case, Lin Yunan couldn’t possibly have had much say in it at all!

Sister Mai Na smiled coldly. “Indeed, I would’ve been able to stop it.” What a joke, she was in Skyart. If Imperial came over to ask for Xiao Ling, would Boss ever agree to it?

Lin Yunan understood what she meant and felt even angrier.

“Alright, alright, enough arguing.” Xia Ling tried her best to mediate the situation. “Sister Mai Na, I know you feel bad for me. Lin Yunan, I know you had no choice back then — you’re already being a very good manager. Today we’re here at Ah Wei’s party, let’s stop going on about this. Since you’re here, let’s just have a drink together.”

“That’s right,” Luo Luo said as she handed him a cocktail. “Since you’re here, we’re all friends now.”

Her sweet smile helped to diffuse the tension around.

Lin Yunan sipped his cocktail slowly, occasionally shooting venomous glares at Sister Mai Na. How should he deal with such an arrogant woman, so that he could join Skyart...

Suddenly, somebody else came into his line of sight.

A pair of fair, slim hands rested on his shirt before they hovered over to his buttons and began undoing them.

“Wei Shaoyin, what are you doing?!” Lin Yunan was in utter shock. Oh no, was Wei Shaoyin into that?!

“Don’t move!” Wei Shaoyin said coldly.

Lin Yunan was so stunned he dared not move.

Upon seeing them, Bai Murong gave a whistle as he folded his arms and watched the show. Xia Ling and Big Boss Li came over as well to see what was going on. She said, “You’re always getting me to keep a distance from Ah Wei, in case people get the wrong idea about a man and a woman. Look at this now, next time you should be getting Murong and the other guys to keep a distance, instead.”

“He isn’t my type,” Bai Murong smiled and said as he sized Lin Yunan up. “Tsk, he looks skinny, but he does have some muscles. Seems like Ah Wei is into this type.”

Lin Yunan glared at him fiercely but still dared not move.

Wei Shaoyin had a straight face on as he undid all the buttons and then did them back the right way, buttoning his shirt all the way up the top. He then unrolled his sleeves, straightened them out, and then buttoned the cuff buttons for him. Wei Shaoyin dusted his shirt from top to bottom once more before considering his work done.

“This outfit you have is hopeless,” Wei Shaoyin said unhappily. “To think you’d dare to appear at my house in this?!”

Lin Yunan snapped back to his senses and took a step back in shock.

“Wh-what do you mean hopeless?” He was just having a back-and-forth argument with Sister Mai Na a while ago, and now he could barely speak without stuttering. “I’m just not in formal attire, that’s all.”

“Haha.” Wei Shaoyin gave a cold laugh. “Someone like you speaking about formal attire? Look at the creases on your shirt, and the buttons that you did up wrong, and how sloppily you’re wearing this. This is just...”

“This is just impossible for a neat freak to accept, hahaha.” Bai Murong couldn’t stop laughing when he figured out why Wei Shaoyin had gone over to unbutton Lin Yunnan’s shirt.

Xia Ling started laughing too when she realized what was going on.

Lin Yunan was confused. What’s wrong with these people from Skyart, do I really want to join a company like this? Must I reconsider?

The Virgo clean freak was on the same side as Sister Mai Na and did not welcome Lin Yunan as well. Lin Yunan felt annoyed about being disliked by both the chief manager and the chief producer of the company and had no choice but to follow Xia Ling around, instead.

Xia Ling felt guilty for what she had done to him before, and hence, took a polite attitude towards him no matter the situation. He was also a reasonable person and had helped Sister Mai Na save a lot of trouble with the reporters and the like when it involved Xia Ling. Sister Mai Na had a few artistes under her, and hence, didn’t have as much time to look out for Xia Ling alone. Also, unlike Lin Yunan, she didn’t have as much ambition to groom anyone artiste to become the next Diva, she simply wanted to do her job well in looking after each of her artistes, so as not to let them down.

Seeing that Lin Yunan had been helping Xia Ling out all along, she told Li Lei, “If he really wants to manage Xiao Ling as well, we can let him do it. After all, his reputation in this industry is not too bad, apart from his bad temper at times.” Speaking of bad temper, Sister Mai Na was reminded of all the times she had arguments with him.

Li Lei smiled. “I see that the both of you get along pretty well.” Although they bickered often, they actually shared the same perspectives and opinions on many things. They worked together well as partners.

Sister Mai Na rolled her eyes at Boss.

Hence, in only a few days, Li Lei announced that Lin Yunan had officially joined Skyart, and his sole task was to manage Xiao Ling. Sister Mai Na would be her other manager, in charge of the more administrative aspect of her career.
