Chapter 29

My Alpha Mate

Chapter 29

Sam

I woke up with a warm arm wrapped around my waist. I opened my eyes and saw Xander sleeping peacefully behind me with his arms wrapped protectively around me, making me feel safe and secured.

I studied his face and saw how peaceful he looks. His normally emotionless face looks calm. Like he has no problems in the world, but I know that that's too good to be true.

I tried to get out of his hold without waking him up. Keyword: tried. As soon as I was about an inch away from him, his hold on me tightened before he pulled me back into his warm embrace. He buried his face in my hair, taking a sniff before his breathing started to become even again, and his snoring filled the room.

I waited for a few minutes to make sure that he's asleep before attempting to get out of his hold again. I sighed in relief when my attempt became successful. I put my arms in the air and stretched before going to the bathroom.

I did my normal routine and took a shower. As soon as I was done, I wrapped a fluffy towel around my body before exiting the bathroom. As soon as I got out of the bathroom, I noticed Xander looking for me in his sleep. He must have noticed that I wasn't beside him anymore.

I heard him whine in his sleep making my heart melt. I went to the bed and put my pillow beside him so that my scent would calm him down. He stopped shuffling in his sleep before hugging my pillow to his chest. I smiled at the sight. He looked adorable, like a little kid looking for his mother.

I went into the walk-in-closet and chose some of Xander's clothes to wear.

'I really need to go get some clothes of my own. I can't keep wearing Xander's clothes forever.' I thought about making my wolf scoff.

'You just realized that? Wow.' My wolf said sarcastically. I ignored her remark and got out of the walk-in-closet with the towel wrapped around my head to dry my hair.

I unwrapped the towel and put it in the bathroom before combing my hair. I looked at Xander, who was still sleeping, to see him hugging the life out of my pillow. His brows furrowed and a small frown painted on his face.

I frowned and walked over to his sleeping form. I put my hand on his bicep making him lean against my touch. He pushed my pillow off the bed before pulling me to his chest and taking me by surprise. He buried his nose in my hair and sighed. He has an iron grip on my waist, making it impossible for me to escape.

I placed my hand on his cheek and called his name to wake him up.

"Xander," I said in hopes of waking him up.

He didn't respond and instead leaned even more to my touch. I poked his cheek and his eyes shot open. He looked at me, relief filled his eyes before hugging me to his chest, as if he was afraid of letting me go.

"Xander, are you okay?" I asked him softly, feeling worried about my Alpha mate.

He didn't respond. He just hugged me closer to his chest.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Don't worry." Xander replied in a reassuring tone, in an attempt to ease my worry for him, I assume. I frowned.

"You know you can tell me anything, right? We're mates." I told him.

"It's nothing, don't worry." He said before giving me a peck on the forehead and getting up from the bed and into the bathroom.

I sat up on the bed and looked at the closed bathroom door feeling confused. Okay then. If he's not going to tell me then that's fine. I respect his decision.

I went out of the bedroom and headed downstairs to make breakfast. I opened the fridge and got out a pack of bacon and some eggs before opening the cupboard to find the pancake mix.

I started frying the bacon before getting started on the pancakes. As I was setting the cooked bacon on the plate, a strong arm wrapped around my waist making me let out a squeal. I looked behind me and saw Xander looking at me with some unknown emotions in his eyes.

"Hey," he said softly before stuffing his face in the crook of my neck.

I put the pancake mix in the pan to let it cool before turning around to face Xander.

"Hi," I replied with a smile.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and gave him a peck on the lips. I turned around once more to flip the pancakes.

"So, what are you cooking?" Xander asked, his face still stuffed in the crook of my neck.

"Pancakes, bacon, and eggs" I replied, taking the pancake out of the pan and putting in the rest of the mix.

"It smells really good. But, I'd rather have something else for breakfast." Xander said huskily. I frowned and turned around to look at him.

"You don't like what I'm cooking? What would you like to eat? Maybe I can prepare it for you before you leave for work-" My blabbering was cut off with Xander's lips.

I kissed him back for a few minutes before pulling away to let oxygen enter my lungs again.

"That's not what I meant, silly one," Xander said chuckling.

I looked at him in confusion before responding.

"Okay then . . ." I trailed off before continuing to cook the food.

As soon as I was done cooking, I set up the plates, silverware, glasses, and other things we need. Xander got out a pitcher of orange juice and set it on the table.

We started eating the cook I made. We talked about random things with Xander making some comments best told in the bedroom to make me blush. Our fun soon ended when Xander told me he had to go for work.

"I'll be back in a few hours. Be careful and stay safe." Xander said before kissing me on the lips and walking out of the front door.

As soon as he closed the door, it was slammed open by none other than Adriana. Her smile on her face was so contagious that I couldn't help but smile back.

"Hey! We're going shopping, so go get ready." Adriana ordered playfully.

I chuckled and cleared up the table before washing them. I went to the living room to see Adriana sprawled out on the sofa with her feet propped up on the little table. The remote in her hand. I shook my head smiled in amusement.

"So, you ready to go?" She asked, not taking her eyes from the show she was watching.

"Yup," I replied.

She looked at my outfit before she rolled her eyes turned off the television.

"Fine. Come on, let's go!" She said excitedly before grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the house. I laughed at her enthusiasm.

"Slow down," I told her.

She didn't listen. She got on the car and waited for me to get on the passenger's side. I did so before putting on my seat belt. As soon as I was done with my seat belt, she stepped down on the gas and drove us to the mall.

We arrived in fifteen minutes because of Adriana's crazy driving. She parked near the entrance of the mall before taking a hold of my arm again and dragging me into the giant building.

We shopped in different shops and tried on different kinds of clothes. I have at least three shopping bags in each arm and Adriana has five in each arm. I was feeling tired when Adriana let us stop at the food court to grab something to eat.

We ate some sandwiches and drank strawberry smoothie before going back to the shops.

We stopped by the supermarket on our way home. We put our shopping bags in the car to get that out of the way. We both grabbed a cart before going through the aisles to get the food we need.

"Hey Sam, I need to use the restroom. I'll be right back," Adriana said before going the opposite direction, taking her cart with her.

I shrugged and continued grocery shopping. I was in the middle of picking some pasta for dinner when my wolf started growling. I was about to ask her what was wrong when suddenly, a voice from behind me whispered something in my ear making me freeze in fear.

"Hello there, sister." Was the last thing I heard before I felt something hit me on the head, making me lose consciousness.
