His Unwanted Desire
HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELY READERS! ð ð
Samantha
"Samantha....", Maa called me while I was doing my hair. Abhimaan already left for the office because he had to attend a foreign client today.
"Ji, Maa....", she entered inside our room.
"I got something for you", she said making me sit with her on the bed.
Her hands were holding a box as she opened it, "It's for you....", she said as the bracelet shined within the box. My eyes widened at its beauty, "Maa, I don't need....", before I could say anything, she interrupted pointing fingers at me.
"Khabardar jo kaha ki mujhe zaroorat nahi hai inki", I shut my mouth immediately taking her warning.
"Tune meri ummed ko sach kiya hai, Samantha. I can't thank you enough. Everything is so little in front of what you have done for me", she said with tearful eyes.
"And look at this", she showed me the bracelet and I was amazed looking at it. It has a heart shaped design and there was a picture of me and Abhimaan in it. "Maa, ye bahut khubsurat hai", I couldn't take my eyes off it.
"Tere se kam", she said making me wear it. "I asked Amaira for these pictures", she smiled back. I noticed it was a candid picture of me and Abhimaan from our brand event. We were looking at each other and a smile was plastered on our faces and the picture looked beautiful.
"Now, get ready for the office. I will see you soon. Don't forget to take the lunch, I have already packed it for you", I nodded back and she left the room.
I touched my wrist and the little hearts tangled in the bracelet made a soft sound, the sound that felt so good to my ears, "Abhimaan, what are you doing to me?", I murmured myself and my cheeks already turned into crimson red just from taking his name.
"God, Samantha jaldi kar tu late ho jayegi office ke liye", I smiled my reflection at the mirror as I was wearing a traditional suit today and it looked pretty. And after taking the lunch box from Maa, I left for the office.
"Mr. Sen, you can add these terms in the contract and then send it to the clients", I said glancing at the documents.
Mr. Sen is one of our employees, he nodded back and he left the cabin. It's been three hours since I'm working on loop but I haven't received a single call from Abhimaan. His meeting would have also got over by now, so me being reluctant picked up my phone and called him. The call didn't connect and I dialled again. It didn't connect again and suddenly, there was a pinch inside my heart.
I felt something was wrong.
I dialled Ruhaan's number as he was also accompanying him in the meeting but he didn't pick up the call either. My heart started racing faster and I rubbed my forehead to neglect my subconscious. I have never felt this way but this vibe, it's just not right.
Holding the bracelet from my hand, I clutched my hands over my chest, "Kaha ho tum, Abhimaan?", my heart paced faster.
Calm down, Samantha. He must be busy at work.
But I just want to hear him once.
Okay, fine! I'm not acting like a typical wife.
So, I tried distracting myself by looking at some of the files placed on my table. I started going through some of them when my phone rang and I immediately picked it up, "Where are you, Abhimaan?", I almost jumped saying it over the call.
"Samantha beta....", I heard a voice and I checked the number again. It was a call from Kaka from the NGO, "Kaka...."
"Beta, NGO mea aag lag gayi hai. Tu jaldi aa jaa....", he said making my heart crumble at his words.
My body went numb and my hands shivered, "Kya....?", I stammered at my words when the moment of realisation hit me.
"Main abhi aayi, Kaka....", I panicked rushing out of my cabin.
I reached my car and started driving to the NGO. Meanwhile I tried calling both Abhimaan and Ruhaan but I received the same response as earlier. Tears started flowing down my cheeks and my hands on the steering wheel tightened. I couldn't think of anything else and I dialled Papa's number and he soon picked it up, "Papa, the NGO.... It caught fire", I almost cried informing him and a silence occupied the call. I felt his voice getting slower when he said, "Main abhi aaya...." he said before ending the call.
I know the NGO holds uncountable emotions for this family. It's Abhimaan's mother's last belonging. It's Abhimaan's real treasure and I cannot let this happen.
With so much hardships, Abhimaan has started moving on with his life and it can't happen now. I can't let him break again.
Tears flooded down my cheeks uncontrollably and I kept wiping it off, "Rone ka time nahi hai, Samantha. Tu Abhimaan ko phir se tutne nahi de sakti", I repeated to myself and sped up the car.
Within minutes, I reached the NGO and entered the main gate. I found the children crying and Kaka was hugging them. The fire control has already reached there and they were in a rush putting off the fire.
The sight in front of me made me tremble at my feet. The corner part of the building was ruined and the main centre part was also blowing. The black smoke started mixing in the air as it made the vision blurry, "Samantha beti....", Kaka came to me and he was crying heavily.
"Kaka, are you all fine?", I asked him in concern and also checked on the children. Thankfully, they haven't got hurt. "We all are fine", he assured me back.
Then I saw Papa and Mumma rushing inside and they were already in tears, "Where is Abhimaan?", Papa asked me.
"I called him but it's not connecting", I said and tried to call him again while Papa and Mumma rushed to the officers.
"Didi....", Pari, one of the children who lives in the NGO came to me. Even though I have met them once yet they are very friendlier to me. And I also know the strong bond they share with Abhimaan.
I bent down to listen to her as I wiped off the dust from her forehead, "Don't worry, Pari, everything will be fine....", I assured her.
"Didi...."
"Haa beta....?"
"Mujhe pata hai ki Abhimaan Bhaiya sab thik kar denge lekin....", her eyes welled up in tears and I crossed my eyebrows at her.
"What happened, Pari?", I asked her in concern.
"Woh.... woh...."
"Bolo, Pari...."
She gulped the lump before saying, "Woh Abhimaan Bhaiya ki maa ki aakhri tasveer hai....", she said in tears referring to me inside the building.
I focused on her words and it took me no second to understand that she was talking about Abhimaan's mother's picture framed inside the NGO.
"Main hu naa.... Aap ro mat", I wiped off her tears and stood up.
"Main kya karu....?", emotions burst inside me, my heart clenching inside and I closed my eyes before taking longer breaths.
Every ounce of my body knew what I was doing but I didn't have any option left. I sighed heavily and took no time in rushing inside the building resisting the fact that it was already in fire.
"Samantha, stop....", I heard Maa and Papa screaming behind me but I refused to look back.
"If this is the way God is trying to break my Abhimaan, then I'm not letting him do it this time...."

Abhimaan
The three hour long meeting finally ended. They were our Australian clients so we had arranged a lunch for them and Ruhaan was also accompanying me in this meeting. "Bro, we did it", he said excitedly while we entered the elevator.
"Of course. Samantha would be so happy to hear that we cracked this deal", I said but shut my mouth immediately when I received a playful smirk from him.
"Samantha would be so happy.... Oye hoye!", he mocked my tone and I regretted blurting it out in front of him.
"Ho gaya tera?", I said coldly as if that can stop this idiot.
"Woh toh tujhe ho raha hai....", he said playfully and I gave him a questioning look.
"Kya?"
"Of course, ho raha hai. Pyar, woh bhi Bhabhi se", he added making me almost choked.
"Abhimaan Malhotra is in love with his wife, Samantha Singh Malhotra", he declared dramatically and I felt something reacting inside my heart when I listened to him. As if my heart was flattered by the idea.
"When did the last time you watch any movie?", I said ignoring his remark.
He started laughing heavily, "Kal hi toh dekha tha. Fifty shades of grey. Tu kahe toh...."
"Shut up."
I can't handle this idiot.
"Tujhe pata hai agar teri movie banti hai toh uska naam hoga "His Unwanted Desire."
"Hai naa?", he added with a smirk on his face.
I rolled up my sleeves as the blazer was already in my hands, "Mujhe lagta hai usse pehle ek aur movie bhi aayegi jiska naam hoga "Ruhaan: The murder mystery." Dekhni hai tujhe?", I passed him a deadly glare and the elevator's gate opened and he rushed out immediately.
"Idiot....", I whimpered getting out of the elevator whereas my mind already started filling up with his voice.
"His Unwanted Desire", the name echoed inside me. The name which actually holds my journey with Samantha.
Jisse kabhi chaaha nahi lekin ab sirf wahi chahiye.
"Abhimaan Malhotra is in love with his wife, Samantha Singh Malhotra", Ruhaan's voice already started ringing like an alarm.
"Iss Ruhaan ke saath rahunga toh main bhi pagal ho jaunga", I muttered under my breath ignoring every urge to just stop and listen to what my heart was saying, I walked along the reception area.
But an urge to have a glance of Samantha flooded inside me.
Her eyes which were once questionable to me are now every answer I ever needed. The smile which was once too much to accept is now everything I ever desired. The anger which once annoyed me is now what I'm ever scared of the most. The tantrums which once tested my patience now hold the power to get me on my knees. The woman whom I never wanted to marry is everything I ever wished for.
Shayad woh mere ache karmon ka fal hai!
I smiled at my thoughts and took my phone out of my pocket. There was a network issue and my eyes fell on her eighteen missed calls. "God, is everything okay?", I gulped the lump in my throat knowing that Samantha in a normal situation would never call like this.
"I just hope she is fine", I wished inwardly when my ears heard something which crushed my wish, "The renowned billionaire Abhimaan Malhotra's NGO caught in a fire. And the sources claim that his wife is inside the burning building", my body went numb and I failed to listen further. I cleared the lump in my throat and turned around to watch the TV placed in the reception area in which the news was flashing. My heart started pounding heavily and I felt a lack of oxygen,"Bro....", Ruhaan came rushing to me.
"Bhabhi ke itne calls hai....", he said but I rushed out before letting him complete his words.
"Samantha....", my body struggled to react and I ran holding my fears inside. A fear I faced years ago.
The fear of losing someone you love.
"Main apni Samantha ko kuch nahi hone de sakta."

Author's POV
Abhimaan reached the NGO and ran inside the main gate. His eyes fell on his Dad who was in heavy tears. Then he looked at his Mom and she was crying miserably. His heart crunched at the sight in front of him. The only place which gave him peace was now burning into ashes. And that flame is igniting at the cost of his wife.
"Samantha....", he screamed marching inside but the officers stopped him immediately.
"Sir, please. You can't go inside", they restricted him from moving further but he was not stopping.
"Shut up. My wife is inside. How dare you stop me?", he roared back making each of them flinch at his words.
The officers struggled to stop but his heavy body was barely getting affected, "I'm telling you for the last time. Where is my wife? Meri Samantha kaha hai?", he screamed in excruciating pain in his voice.
His Mom and Dad came to him, "Abhimaan, you can't go inside the building", Ruhaan also tried stopping him but he kept forcing his body which was being blocked by the officers.
"Dad, ask them to leave me. Dad, please....", his painful voice was enough to leave everyone in tears.
While Abhimaan struggled with the force he was being captivated with and his screams made him breathe heavily, "Dad, please. Inhe bolo mujhe jaane de. Please Dad. Main aapki har baat maanunga lekin main Samantha ko kho nahi sakta. Please Dad, main marr jaunga uske bina, mujhe jaane do", his Dad's feet trembled when he saw his son who is known for his ruthless attitude now crying miserably for the girl he never wanted to marry.
"Abhimaan, they are searching for her", he tried making Abhimaan understand but he refused to listen to him. So, he ended up pushing the force and rushed inside the gate.
"Samantha, where are you?", he screamed at the top of his lungs.
"Abhimaan, stop....", his Dad shouted from behind but he barely cared about anyone.
He was panting heavily as the tears kept pooling inside his eyes, "Samantha, please.... Listen to me for once", he begged like a child.
The flashback started being home inside his mind as it started reminding him of the day he felt the same way. The day when he lost his mother. The day he was left at his helplessness.
"No, no, this can't happen again. I can't lose her", the flashbacks started haunting him and he screamed more.
"Samantha....", he marched towards the entrance when the black smoke blurred his vision.
He started coughing and held his chest, nothing was visible except the blurry vision in front of him. He felt the hazy sight getting cleared and narrowed his eyes while breathing heavily. The lump stuck in his throat, he could hear his own heart beat, when he saw a walking figure coming towards him.
He knew what he was looking at but failed to believe in the very first place. He couldn't comprehend if it was because of the urge to see her again or is she for real until he heard a soft voice, "Abhimaan...."
A soft smile with tears in his eyes plastered across his face, "Samantha....", he said with a feeling of relief because he was able to see her again.
She trembled at her feet but kept marching towards Abhimaan, her eyes already leaving tears where her face was covered with the blackness of the smoke. Abhimaan's tears failed to wait as it started flowing down his cheeks, "Samantha....", he barely spoke.
She gave him a tearful smile and his focus shifted to her hands. When in the world he was dying to see her again, she was there walking towards him holding his mother's photo in her hands. She kept it closer to her chest, covering it with her dupatta.
It was the moment he realised that the woman he never wanted to marry rushed inside the burning building just to save his mother's photo.
"Abhimaan Malhotra is in love with his wife, Samantha Singh Malhotra."
He felt occupied with his own realisation when he saw her losing her balance, "Abhi....", he wrapped his arms around her but she couldn't understand if it was the tears blurring her vision or if the world was actually drifting apart, "Main tumhe kuch nahi hone dunga, Samantha", the last words she heard before she passed out in his arms.
