Chapter 1009
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Millie thought he would continue, but Marcus instead released her and tenderly tucked her into bed.
âGood night, honey.â
The abrupt halt caught Millie by surprise, but she was genuinely tired and quickly drifted off to sleep.
Marcus, grappling with the physical discomfort, lay down next to Millie. He knew he wouldnât want to
pursue intimacy with her until he had recovered.
Even so, Marcus seemed unable to control himself completely, and Millie often felt his hand on her
chest as she slept.
Lately, Millie had immersed herself in design work, leading a busy and fulfilling life. Today marked a
rare moment of relaxation, so she and Grace arranged to spend the day shopping together.
They purchased some cosmetics, and afterward, they found a snack bar and settled in.
After a bit of casual conversation, Graceâs tone changed as her eyes shifted towards Millieâs flat
abdomen.
âMillie, whatâs going on with you? Why arenât you pregnant yet? Iâm so eager to become your childâs
godmother.â
Millie Looked down at her stomach, a frown of embarrassment crossing her face.
âWhy donât you have a child of your own? Then you can be your own childâs mother.â
Grace playfully pretended to hit Millie. âI donât even have a boyfriend. How can I have a baby?â

Millie deftly dodged and selected some food for Grace.
Chewing thoughtfully, Grace continued, âDonât evade the issue. Youâve been married for some time
now. Why arenât you expecting yet? Is there something wrong with your health? Do you want me to
accompany you to the hospital?â
Millie found herself at a loss for words under Graceâs scrutinizing gaze. How could her friend question
her health in such a way?
âYou must have a child to secure your place in the Thomas family.
Donât let your work consume you. The money you earn means nothing to them,â Grace added, concern
in her voice, for she had heard that Mrs. Thomas wasnât particularly kind to Millie.
âI havenât thought about it yet,â Millie replied, shaking her head.
The idea of solidifying her status through childbirth was foreign to her. People who resented you
wouldnât change their view just because you bore a child.
Grace rolled her eyes at Millie, chiding, âFool. Itâs getting late.
Call Marcus to pick you up.â
Millie continued to eat, responding nonchalantly, âIâll take a taxi. Heâs probably still working.â
âIs he out socializing every night?â Grace asked, recalling the last time sheâd messaged Millie and he
hadnât returned yet due to business.
And now, he was occupied with work again.
