Chapter 1010
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Millie took a sip of juice, and spoke honestly. âYes, heâs been working late quite a bit lately.â
Grace looked thoughtful. She knew Marcus was engrossed in his work, but did he truly need to work
overtime every single day?
Wearing a serious expression, Grace warned, âMillie, you should keep a closer eye on your husband.
Has he been acting strangely Lately?
Why does he need to work late all the time?â
Millie understood Graceâs underlying concern. Many men used overtime as an excuse to enjoy
themselves elsewhere. However, Millie had faith in Marcus. Her trust in him was unshaken.
âI understand what youâre saying, but I donât believe Marcus is that type of man. He truly is away on
business,â Millie asserted.
Seeing the conviction in Millieâs eyes, Grace couldnât help but feel that perhaps she had been a little too
concerned.
âWell, as long as you trust him,â she finally conceded.

After bidding Grace farewell, Millie hailed a taxi and headed home.
It was already eleven oâclock, and the villa stood in silence.
Marcus hadnât returned yet.
As she slept, Millie was stirred by a noise. Turning on the bedside lamp, she spotted Marcus as he was
undressing.
Millie rubbed her eyes, questioning, âHoney, why are you coming back so late?â
Marcus set his coat down and approached, gently caressing her forehead.
âIâm sorry. Things took a little longer today,â he explained.
âOkay, go wash up, and then come to bed,â Millie instructed, her voice soft.
After slipping into his night robe, Marcus lay down beside Millie.
She snuggled into his arms, but exhaustion soon overtook Marcus, and he fell into a deep sleep.
Millie, however, found herself wide awake, nestled in Marcusâ arms.
Why did Marcus seem so refreshed when he returned from work? Had he showered elsewhere? She
detected the faint aroma of body wash.
She remembered a few nights prior when Marcus had come home and gone straight to sleep, carrying
the same scent.
Had his behavior been unusual lately? Graceâs words began to echo in Millieâs mind.
Furthermore, Marcus had been noticeably restrained of late. He used to pester her affectionately, but
recently, that desire seemed to have waned.
As these thoughts swirled in her head, Millie carefully extracted herself from Marcusâ embrace, her
eyes fixed on the ceiling, her mind clear and alert.
