Chapter 1012
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âI just came to have a look. Donât worry about me. Carry on with your work.â
The previous night, Millie had noticed something odd about Marcus.
Whenever she had a free moment, her mind would wander to the mystery.
The more she considered it, the more suspicious it seemed. As Grace had pointed out, could he really
be out for social events every single day?
Derekâs voice broke through her thoughts. âMr. Thomas is inside. You can go in directly.â
âNo, thank you. Iâm not here for him,â Millie said, shaking her head.
Her eyes caught sight of a schedule on the secretaryâs desk, sparking her curiosity.
Angelaâs Library
âYouâre not here to see Mr. Thomas?â Derek asked, disbelief in his voice.
âItâs lunchtime. Shouldnât you get something to eat?â Millie said with a smile.
Derek believed he had figured out Millieâs intentions. She must have come to see Marcus; they seemed
to want to spend every possible moment together.
âI was so engrossed in work that I forgot. Iâll go now,â he replied, and promptly left to take the elevator.
Once the elevator door closed, Millie opened the schedule. After examining it, her face fell.
The evening slot on Marcusâ schedule was vacant. Hadnât he mentioned he had an appointment?
Glancing uneasily toward his office, Millie set down the schedule and departed.
When Derek returned, he surveyed Marcusâ office but found no trace of Millie.
âMr. Thomas, didnât Mrs. Thomas come in?â he inquired.
Marcus set aside the contract heâd been perusing and responded in a monotone, âShe was here?â
âTwenty minutes ago, she arrived. I assumed she was here for you.â
Derek had been mistaken; heâd thought Millie sent him away intentionally so she could spend time
alone with Marcus without any disturbances.
Millie had come and gone quietly. Marcus rubbed his chin in contemplation.
âLetâs head to the golf course.â
Back in the design department, Millieâs suspicion lingered throughout the afternoon. Why had he lied to
her?
Her phone broke into her thoughts with a message from Grace.
âMillie, are you busy right now?â
