Chapter 1018
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a young woman rushed in.
Harlanâs face darkened, anger replacing concern.
âWho allowed you in here? Leave! No one is permitted here without my consent!â he barked,
emphasizing the need to keep Marcusâ condition confidential.
The young womanâs fear was evident, but to everyoneâs surprise, she approached Harlan and took
hold of his arm.
âThen come out with me. I miss you so much,â she pleaded, trying to pull Harlan from the room.
Harlan was tall and solidly built. She strained to pull him away, exerting all her strength, but her efforts
were in vain.
With ease, Harlan withdrew his hand and fixed a steady gaze on her.
âWhatâs wrong with you? Why must you persist in this folly?â he snapped.
Harlan had never met such a tenacious and daring woman. If a man had behaved in such a manner, he
would have physically ejected him from the premises.
The womanâs fear was overshadowed by her determination as she met Harlanâs gaze defiantly.
âIâve told you that my name is Mavis. Donât forget it,â she declared, a flash of disappointment in her
eyes as she rushed out of the room.
Marcusâ eyes followed her exit before turning to Harlan, his curiosity piqued.
With a sigh, Harlan closed the door and walked back, his brow furrowed.

âA few days ago, I nearly collided with her while driving. I took her to the hospital to ensure she was
unhurt. Though she wasnât injured, she insisted that I had hit her and that I should be held responsible.
In truth, I stopped the car in time, and it never touched her. She was only frightened. Now she wonât
leave me alone.â
A smile played at Marcusâ lips. Never before had he seen a woman act so boldly around Harlan.
The doctor joined in the laughter. It was common knowledge that Harlanâs demeanor was intimidating;
no woman dared to challenge him.
Meanwhile, outside the villa, Millie stepped out of her car and approached the grand iron gate, her
forehead creased in thought.
A servant, a plain middle-aged woman, noticed Millieâs lingering presence and approached.
âMiss, whom are you seeking?â
Millieâs Lips pressed together as she asked, âIs Marcus inside?â
The servant pondered for a moment and replied, âYou mean Mr. Thomas, right? Please come in.â
Observing that Millie was polite, the plain middle-aged woman who served as the servant believed that
Millie was not a malicious person.
She then opened the door, welcoming Millie inside.
Just then, Mavis, still fumed from her earlier encounter, spotted the servant leading a young woman
into the villa.
