Chapter 1185
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Faced with such a genuine invitation, Millie couldnât say no.
âVery well, Iâll make sure to be there on time.â
Come noon, Millie rose from her desk and made her way to the elevator.
When the doors slid open, Marcus was there, a surprise she hadnât anticipated.
Marcus looked her straight in the eyes.
âWell, are you getting in?â
Millie stepped inside and cast him a quick glance.
âWhere are you off to?â

His serious expression suggested he wasnât simply stepping out for a coffee run.
With a brief laugh, Marcus casually slid a hand into his pocket.
âIâm headed the same direction you are.â
What?
âWait, Mrs. Fairclough invited you to lunch as well?â Millie queried, genuinely surprised.
Marcus extended his arm to draw her nearer. Why was she maintaining such a distance in the
elevator? To the uninformed observer, it would seem as though they had just had a disagreement.
It was good theyâd crossed paths here. His plan had been to go down, call her from the car, and ask
her to join him.
âIf they invite you, theyâll most certainly invite me,â Marcus said.
âThe Faircloughs are a notable family. They understand the nuances of etiquette.â
He had a point, but Millie wasnât about to make things easy for him.
She brushed aside Marcusâs outstretched hand, cleared her throat, and took on a formal tone.
âKeep your distance. Thereâs a security camera in here. We need to act appropriately in public.â
Marcus gestured towards the camera and then reached out, pulling the very woman who had just
rebuffed him into his arms.
Millieâs face immediately shifted to a look of concern.
Marcus gently brushed the tip of her elegantly curved nose.
âDonât worry, Iâve already disabled the camera. Besides, weâre both educated enough not to do
anything that would cause a scandal.â
