Chapter 1228
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âI understand. How is grandma doing?â
âThe police have apprehended the perpetrator, although he was hired to harm my grandmother. We
havenât identified the person who orchestrated it yet. Based on the available information, this individual
seems to be from Preagend. I believe theyâre attempting to get at me, knowing that hurting my
grandmother would deeply trouble me.â
Marcus grimaced. It seemed that the car accident had been deliberately arranged.
âIâll arrange for an investigation into this person. Meanwhile, please take good care of yourself.â
âOkay. I will,â said Millie.
Shera subtly clenched the leather seat. She needed to be cautious not to reveal too much. The
situation was delicate.
Shera covered her mouth, pretending to cough.
Marcus stared at her with a questioning look. She promptly explained that she couldnât help the cough
due to a cold.
Millie, overhearing the exchange, was briefly taken aback. Was Marcus escorting a woman home?
The more you loved someone, the more suspicious youâd become.
Hearing no immediate response from Millie, Marcus was concerned about a misunderstanding.
âSweetheart?â
âSweetheart, are you dropping off a female friend?â
Worried that Millie might jump to conclusions if he mentioned that the woman was Shera, he offered a
reassuring explanation.
âYes, just an old friend of mine. Iâll introduce you to her when youâre back.â

Millie remained composed.
âAlright, I have to go now. Grandmaâs infusion is almost done. Iâll call the nurse.â
She trusted him, a testament to her love for him.
A similar situation had occurred before, but on that occasion, when she hurried over, nothing untoward
had happened between Kaya and Marcus.
But an old female friend? Millie never heard him mention an old friend like that.
Before ending the call, she added, âOh, and I have some good news for you. Grandma has woken up.â
Twenty minutes later, at the entrance of the Evans family estate.
Marcus parked the car and stated, âWeâre here.â
The sound of the carâs engine drew a servant from the house, holding an umbrella.
