Chapter 1248
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âJust a minor injury. Itâs nothing, really, Bruce said, his voice laid-back.
Mavis shot back without hesitation, âThatâs a lie! You said just a minute ago that it was painful.â
Bruceâs eyes narrowed, turning into sharp slits as he looked at Mavis.
âMen are talking. Women should remain quiet.â
Mavisâs cheeks flushed with indignation.
Harlan picked up a length of rope and aimed an icy stare at Bruce.
âUntie her,â he commanded.
Bruce nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders.
Angelaâs Library
âItâs already tied. I have no plans to undo it.â
Harlan might have been a feared assassin, but Bruce was no slouch himself .
Without further ado, Harlan fished a lighter out of his chest pocket, ignited a blue flame, and applied it
to the rope. It melted away, inch by inch.
Chuckling scornfully, he said, âSee? Now itâs untied.â
Harlan quickly removed the remains of the rope from Mavisâs wrists.
Due to the dim lighting and Mavisâs hasty withdrawal, Harlan failed to notice the gunshot wound on her
wrist.
âWeâre leaving,â Harlan announced, tilting his head to indicate the direction.
Could she really escape this time? Free herself from Bruceâs torment?
But then again, Harlan was a force to be reckoned with, and Bruce wasnât Likely to stand in his way.
âAlright,â Mavis agreed, a smile lighting up her face.
As she looked back at Bruce, a long-absent sense of pride flashed across her face.
Bruceâs eyes widened just a fraction.
âThey actually do look like a fitting pair from behind,â he mused.
His lips curled, and a brief glimmer of amusement crossed his features.
âDonât forget to take Miss Smith to the restroom,â he taunted.
âShe mentioned earlier that she needed to go. Sheâs a grown woman, after all. Make sure she doesnât
have an accident in the corridor.â
