Chapter 1350
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Interrupting her train of thought, Marcus said, âI want to be with you.â
Then he fixed his deep gaze upon her.
Millie was taken aback and moved by his words. They felt sweeter to her than any declaration of love
ever could.
His words also filled Millie with newfound strength. Disregarding their audience, she responded, âI want
to be with you, too. Iâve missed you so much.â
Back in Preagend, she had constantly checked the time and the weather, anxious about why he hadnât
returned yet. The rain had particularly unnerved her.
As she had suspected, he had indeed run into trouble.
Leaning against his sturdy shoulder, Millie drifted off to sleep.
Marcus tenderly brushed the hair from her forehead and gently touched her face, cherishing the
moment.
Meanwhile, on the side of the highway, one of Ryanâs men climbed into a car and reported to him, âMr.
Morgan, we lost two more men in the recent gunfight.â
A chill crept into Ryanâs eyes as he responded, âAfter this is over, give them a dignified burial.â
âYes, sir. It was an unusual firefight. It seemed they were trying to escort a woman to that room.â
Ryan frowned, puzzled by the situation.
âDid you get a good look at the shooter and the woman?â he asked.
âNo, it was too dark to see their faces clearly. However, I did find a shell casing.â
A N G E L A âs L I B R A R Y
Ryan took the shell casing from him and studied its details.
It belonged to an M2@0Q0 pistol, Harlanâs weapon of choice. Based on the information he had
gathered, the shooter was most certainly Harlan.
Just then, a sudden burst of bright light illuminated the area as three SUVs pulled up beside them.
Ryan and his men immediately went on high alert.
His subordinate gripped his weapon tightly, his concern evident. âThis is odd. Why would these vehicles
show up at this time? Could they be Marcusâ people?â
The SUV doors swung open, and a team of men dressed in black, armed uniforms stepped out. They
then proceeded to open the trunks and unload several boxes.
Upon opening one of the boxes, they revealed it was full of firearms and ammunition magazines.
The subordinateâs eyes widened in disbelief. âDamn, thatâs enough firepower to level a mountain. Mr.
Morgan, whatâs our next move? We canât tell if theyâre friend or foe.â
Narrowing his eyes, Ryan peered into the leading car. Suddenly, the front door of the leading vehicle
swung open, and a man stepped out, revealing his face.
Ryan was stunned at the sight of the face.
