Chapter 1372
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
The doctor was taken aback, but he surmised that Marcus was afraid of upsetting his wife. And that
was why he didnât dare say anything against Millie.
But as a doctor, he was of the belief that the patientâs well-being should always be the foremost
concern.
âMr. Thomas, you should continue to rest on the patientâs bed. The bedâs design and features are
intended for your comfort and are tailored according to your needs,â the doctor explained with a
reassuring gesture. âMillie is in good health and can easily manage to sleep on the sofa; it wonât be an
issue.â
Marcus spoke earnestly, his tone grave as he asserted, âMy wifeâs health isnât at its best. Sheâs quite
slender and truly needs a good rest.â
Millie was completely speechless by Marcusâs statement. She thought that Marcusâs words seemed to
discredit her even more.
âUhâ¦â The doctor scratched his head, pondering that Marcus appeared to be quite intimidated by his
wife. This was a pure servitude. But, he couldnât overlook the fact that Marcus was tall and robust.
As the doctor was preparing to make another attempt to persuade Marcus, Millie hurriedly stepped in
and got a hold of him.
âHoney, please go to bed and lie down. Iâll assist you. The doctor needs to examine your condition,â
she said, concern lacing her voice.
Millie had always been a gentle and caring person. However, in the eyes of these doctors, her recent
actions had transformed her from a kind and gentle woman into someone they perceived as stern and
unyielding.
Her husband had just undergone surgery, and here she was occupying his bed. In the eyes of the
onlookers, she appeared rather inconsiderate, who didnât know the value of her husband.
Millie guided Marcus to the bedside, gently urging him to take a seat, and spoke with tenderness in her
voice, âHoney, please Lie down.â

She moved her hands to arrange the pillows for his comfort.
After lying down, Marcus gazed at her affectionately and implored, âPlease donât be angry, okay?â
She squinted her eyes. Was he trying to portray her as strange to others?
âIâm not angry. Donât think too much.â
Turning towards the doctor, she awkwardly informed him, âYou can proceed now.â
The doctor approached Marcus, inserted the needle into his body, and proceeded to use the instrument
for further examination.
After checking him thoroughly, the doctor reported, âHis heartbeat is normal; his blood pressure is
within the expected range, but he has an elevated temperature.â
Subsequently, he conducted a thorough examination of the plaster and came to the conclusion that the
recovery was progressing satisfactorily.
Millie Listened attentively, genuinely concerned about Marcusâs well-being. When the doctor affirmed
that he was in good health, she felt a sense of relief wash over her.
âMr. Thomas, your gunshot wound isnât currently a serious concern, but to be frank, your old woundâ¦â
âIâm aware of that. Thank you. Iâm exhausted now. You can proceed to check on other patients.â
Marcus interrupted the doctor.
The doctor who was recording the data exchanged a confused glance with the main doctor. âAlright, Mr.
Thomas, get some rest.â He turned to leave the room.
After walking a few paces, the doctors turned back to cast a concerned glance at Millie.
