Chapter 181
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 181
These people are too daring. Arenât they afraid of falling?â
Marcus glanced at her, an edge of surprise in his gaze. âYou seem unafraid?â
Was Millie truly a woman? Any other woman would've been terrified by now, yet Millie was maintaining her calm.
She nodded earnestly.
âTam scared. However, | also admire their bravery. They risk their lives to climb this high. If it were me, even if the reward was
ten million, | wouldnât accept the job.
Perhaps | would die before | could spend any of it.â
Closing the curtains, Marcus retorted, âYou're not worth ten million. Now go back to bed.â
Millie shook her head. âI canât sleep now. What if someone tries to kill me? Iâm young and | have many more years to live.â
âFrom what | can see, you are scared now. But donât worry. Theyâre after me, not you. Youâre merely bait. Your life isnât that
valuable.â
Understanding dawned upon Millie. Climbing into bed, she bemoaned her misfortune. Women who married into wealthy families
usually led lives of luxury, but she was living in danger ever since marrying Marcus.
As soon as she lay down, she bolted upright again, her long eyelashes fluttering as she swallowed hard.
âTum off the light. I'll sleep sitting up.â
Her life was not solely hers to risk, considering her gravely ill grandmother.
Sitting up to sleep? Marcus noted her palpable fear. He took a drag from his cigarette, his lips curling into a smirk.
âScared, are you? How about | sleep with you?â
Marcusâ grin carried a hint of malevolence, causing Millie to blush uncomfortably.
Refusing to be intimidated by his words, Millie lifted her chin and reminded herself to stay strong.
âDo you actually believe that Iâm frightened of potential assassins? What | truly fear is you taking advantage of my youth and
attractiveness. Iâm a young, beautiful woman, after all.â
Leisurely, Marcus took a drag from his cigarette and exhaled a ring of smoke.
âYou consider yourself still youthful and attractive? | beg to differ.â
She was stunned! His audacious remark doubting her youth and beauty was exasperating, and his mischievous gaze was even
more irritating.
âIf you canât see it, perhaps your eyes are flawed. Donât question my purity. Since my childhood, Iâve been a virtuous girl, a well-
rounded student. Iâve earned numerous accolades throughout my upbringing,â Millie retorted.
