Chapter 214
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âGrace, | apologize for troubling you so late. It must have disturbed your rest,â Millie said.
âDonât mention it. Mrs. Thomas tossed you out, and Marcus didnât intervene? He is your husband, after all.â Grace fumed.
Millie quickly shook her head. âLet's not discuss him. He has a strong dislike for me.
| would be thankful if he doesnât exacerbate the situation.â
After a brief pause, Millie added, âBut to be frank, | donât hold him in high regard either.â
âAh, you've had a rough time, Millie.â Grace expressed her empathy, having listened to Millieâs litany of issues.
Millie waved off her own concerns, eager to turn the conversation around. âLetâs not dwell on my troubles. Whatâs new with you?â
âI've recently secured a position at the prestigious Preagend five-star restaurant.
The job is gratifying, and Lady Luck has smiled upon me. | won a travel voucher in a local lottery. | wish | could take my mother
on a much-needed vacation, but unfortunately, | canât seem to get leave from work, and no oneâs available to cover for me.â
âT could stand in for you, allowing you the chance to travel with your mom,â Millie generously suggested.
Grace hesitated, torn between gratitude and discomfort. âAre you sure? The trip could take several days.â
âIt's perfectly fine. Go ahead, and donât feel the need to hold back around me.â
âThank you, Millie. I'll bring you back a souvenir,â Grace gushed, filled with thankfulness and wrapped Millie in a warm hug.
Sitting next to Millie at the table was a man with an unrefined look on his face as he eyed her.
At that moment, an opulent SUV pulled up outside the restaurant. Two well-dressed men emerged from the vehicle, causing a
stir as they entered the dining room. Their entrance piqued the curiosity of the other patrons, whose gazes naturally drifted
towards them.
âMy, those gentlemen are quite dashing,â remarked a diner.
âIndeed, they are striking. Even though they seem rather serious,â another added.
At the murmurings, Grace turned her attention towards the entrance. Her eyes widened in recognition. Unable to contain her
surprise, she queried Millie.
âAm | mistaken, or has Marcus come to fetch you?â
Following Graceâs line of sight, Millie spotted Marcus, his gaze sharper and colder than usual. A chill ran down her spine as she
wondered why he was there.
Once inside the restaurant, Marcus seated himself on a nearby couch, exuding an air of nobility.
Bruce creased his brow at the sight of that. Nonetheless, he approached Millie with a friendly smile.
