Chapter 280
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Millie spoke, puzzled. âI didnât detect any peculiar aroma. Itâs sweet.â
While Millie stood there, still unsure of the situation, the others, having caught on, wore mischievous grins.
Bruce gave Marcus a thumbs-up and said, âBro, you're clever. You successfully tricked her.â
She had been tricked! Millie trembled. Marcus had lied to her. The drink tasted normal to them, didnât it?
Millie, still uncertain, asked, âThere was no peculiar aroma when you tasted it, correct?â
Bruce shook his head, amused that Millie was still oblivious to Marcusâ cunning.
âYou're so naive. Marcus drank the same concoction,â Mylo said, grinning.
Delmor chimed in with his own smirk, âI too noticed that you and Marcus had drunk from the same spot.â
Tears began to pool in Millieâs eyes, her thoughts spiraling into chaos. She cast her gaze down to the emptied glass; no matter
how naive she was, she understood what their laughter was about.
Anger and embarrassment flooded Millie, her grip on the glass becoming dangerously tight and her cheeks flushing.
Feeling cornered, Millie tried to flee, only to have her wrist captured by a firm grip, pulling her down into a seat.
âsit. Eat.â
As Millie tumed her gaze, she was met with Marcusâ stern expression and intense gaze. His grip on her was unyielding.
Frustrated, Millie exclaimed, âI am still on duty. | canât dine now. Release me. You're interfering with my work.â
Despite her efforts to break free, she remained captive.
It was just at that moment that the restaurant manager appeared at the entrance, strolling in with a grin plastered on his face.
Millie wished she could disappear under the table. She was now caught inappropriately mingling with the customers.
Asense of unease washed over her.
âEnjoy your meal, Mr. Thomas.â
Marcusâ eyes shifted towards the manager, his hand still clasping Millieâs. âSheâs overseeing this area tonight.â
The manager glanced at Millie, who was visibly flustered and evasive, nodded respectfully, and promptly departed.
âAll right. | need to get back to work.â
