Chapter 353
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 353
Millieâs face was ashen, her fear still palpable.
Reflecting on his rescue of the maid who had cooked him noodles, Harlan smiled, finding new value in that simple meal.
âAre you alright?â Harlanâs concern was evident.
âI'm not injured; thank you for rescuing me,â
Millie replied, surprised that someone she thought dangerous had saved her.
âYou're welcome. Consider it a thank you for last nightâs noodles,â Harlan said jokingly with a smile. âI havenât had such tasty
noodles in years.â
Hmm? Millie was taken aback.
âLet's get out of here,â he suggested.
The eerie alley was uncomfortable for Millie. Today had been perilous, and she knew she must remain cautious.
They headed for the alleyâs entrance.
Hidden nearby, two robust bodyguards emerged from the shadows, exchanged glances, and began to report to Marcus on their
phones.
They had been about to intervene when Harlan arrived.
âCan you tell me your name? | donât even know it,â Millie said, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
âYou can call me Harlan,â he replied, smiling as he glanced at Millieâs youthful form.
âWell, thank you, Harlan. If you ever need anything, just let me know. Ill do my best,â Millie responded earnestly.
âYou're an intriguing maid,â Harlan mused, slowing his pace. âWhy are you out so late? A maid's life seems quite leisurely now.â
Harlan remembered seeing her cleaning late the previous night and wondered why she was out here this late.
And why would someone pay to kidnap a mere maid?
âT have the day off today. | went out for some fun,â she explained.
Harlan seemed to still view Millie as a maid of the Thomas family, and Millie didnât correct him.
âI need to head back now.â
âHold on a second. Iâm going to buy something for you.â
