Chapter 499
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 499
Did Millie catch her red-handed?
Pretending as though she didnât see anything, Millie responded, âIâm here to help out. Why do you look so surprised?â
In a quiet moment, Millieâs eyes were drawn on the four cups of freshly brewed flower tea. Something was amiss, and she
noticed that something had been added to one of the cups.
What could it possibly be?
Upon closer inspection, the tea itself looked no different from usual, yet an unsettling feeling nagged at her.
Miaâs voice wavered as she caught Millieâs gaze on the teacup that she had drugged.
âIs something the matter? You seem troubled,â she asked.
Millie shook her head, concealing her suspicions.
âNo, | was merely admiring how beautiful this tea looks. The color is so vibrant and ted.â
Millie glanced at the teacup that she deemed problematic.
In truth, this cup of tea didnât look any different than the other cups.
Yet, as she said these words, Millie couldnât help but feel that one particular cup had been tampered with. It appeared identical to
the others, but there was a small, nearly imperceptible flaw on the rim.
Was this specially prepared tea intended for her or for Marcus?
She couldnât shake a question from her mind. What would happen if it was consumed?
âYou are a cherished member of the Thomas family now,â said Mia, her voice filled with a sincere yet forced warmth. âI've done
you wrong in the past, but | want to make amends now. You are the wife of the president of the Thomas Group, and | will depend
on you in the future,â Mia said, relieved to know that Millie didnât seem to suspect her.
âThank you. Your words mean a lot,â said Millie, masking her apprehension. âI'll head out now.â
With Millie out of the room, Mia let out a sigh that was half relief, half guilt. She quickly threw the incriminating bottle into the
trash can, a knot of tension still present in her stomach.
Miaâs lips curved into a faint smile. The drug concocted by her uncle was indeed extraordinary.
When she had slipped it into the tea, it blended seamlessly, leaving no trace behind.
It had been a close call, she almost got caught.
As she turned to search for the tray, a servant burst into the room, speaking with a confident tone. âMiss Brown, would you like
me to carry the tea to the living room?
Allow me.â
