Chapter 545
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Noticing Patrickâs furrowed brow and unease, Millie shook her head, managing a smile.
âNo, weâre friends. You havenât caused me any inconvenience.â
Patrickâs countenance improved markedly upon witnessing her smile. However, it became apparent
that sheâd relegated him to the friend zone.
âIndeed, weâre friends. Itâs a joy to be in each otherâs company.â
He was a good man. If he harbored affection for someone, he wouldnât obstruct their happiness.
As their dishes arrived, Patrick encouraged her, âLetâs enjoy our meal.â
Amidst their meal, a black car pulled up near the restaurant, coming to a stop.
The window of the car rolled down, and Marcusâ gaze fell upon Millie, seated within the restaurant.
As Millie partook in her meal, her phone interrupted the dining scene with a call emanating from
Marcus.
Perplexed by the sudden intrusion, she had no time to inquire before a stern voice reverberated on the
line.
âWhere are you?â
The tone struck a disconcerting chord, immediately putting Millie on edge.
Subconsciously, she scanned her surroundings as if she could sense his gaze piercing through her.
In a subdued tone, she replied, âWeâre having a meal outside.â
Unrelenting, he pressed on, âWith whom?â
The atmosphere grew increasingly strained. Perturbed, Millie stammered, âA friend.â
Though there was no real reason for her to feel so guilty, her anxiety surged.
In a heartbeat, Marcus issued another command. âCome out.â
Stammering, Millie echoed, âCome⦠Out?â A wave of apprehension washed over her as Marcusâ next
words reached her ears.
âWhatâs wrong?â Alarmed by the sudden shift, Patrick lowered his fork, concern etched across his
features.
As realization dawned, Millie turned to peer outside the restaurant, her gaze fixed on Marcusâ imposing
car.
âQuickly. Or else Iâll assume youâre being unfaithful.â
