Chapter 556
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Recognizing her grandmotherâs worsening condition, Millie understood she couldnât avoid visiting. After
a brief contemplation, she asserted, âMy grandmotherâs health declined last night. Iâll remain at the
hospital for a few days. Once this issue is resolved, Iâll return. Now, Iâll gather a few clothes from
upstairs.â
This seemed the only feasible option to Millie, but Celeste perceived it as a defiance, considering that
everyone else usually followed her orders, except Millie.
Soon after, Millie descended with her belongings, only to face a fuming Celeste.
âMillie, must you oppose me at every tum? This is for your well-being and the familyâs welfare. Why
must you insist on going? Furthermore, your grandmother has been stable, so a brief absence wonât
cause any harm. Are you deliberately trying to provoke me?â Celesteâs anger surfaced.
Amid Celesteâs rant, Millieâs phone rang once more. Anticipating that her grandmotherâs condition had
worsened again, she answered the call.
Teresa, typically composed, wouldnât call unless in dire straits.
Ending the call, Millie stated, âIâll undergo a medical check-up upon my return to ensure I havenât been
infected.â
Frustration palpable, Celeste snapped, âIs it truly necessary for you to go?â
Millieâs response was resolute. âIâm sorry, but I must.â
A call from Bria reached Marcus.
âMr. Thomas, thereâs an issue. Your mother is furious, and her heart rate has escalated significantly.
After a medical examination, the doctor attributed her condition to anxiety,â Bria reported.
A frown creased Marcusâ forehead as he inquired, âWhy?â
âItâs related to Millie. They had a heated argument recently.â Bria elaborated.
âProvide more details,â Marcus demanded.
âMillie was en route to the hospital when Celeste discovered news of a malaria outbreak there.
Concerned, Celeste urged Millie not to go.â
Bria amplified the disagreement.
After concluding the call, Marcus tightened his grip on his phone, his brow furrowing. Millie had even
chosen to leave their home.
Upon returning from a late-night engagement, Marcus found his bedroom vacant and devoid of any
trace of Millie.
Exiting his room, Marcus entered Celesteâs chamber, where Bria was presenting a bow of anger-
relieving medicine.
âMrs. Thomas, hereâs your medicine,â Bria announced.
While Celeste lay on the bed, Marcus asked if she wished to undergo a medical check-up.
âNo, thank you. Iâm fine. I acted with Millieâs best interests in mind, yet she completely disregarded my
counsel. Furthermore, she places great importance on her grandmother but dismisses the significance
of our family. She seemed to intentionally fall ill to harm us,â Celeste divulged. Marcus compressed his
lips, absorbing Celesteâs accusations against Millie. He responded, âTake your medicine.
