Chapter 559
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Upon her departure, she intended to leave the hairpin behind, using her design talents to earn money
and eventually repaying him the one and a half million dollars.
Every feast must eventually conclude. Joining the Thomas family had proven to be a mistake.
On a certain day, after her trip to the supermarket, Bria, following Rheaâs directive, approached Celeste
with feigned casualness as she wiped the table.
âMadam, what ailment does Mrs. Thomasâ grandmother suffer from? She visits the hospital daily.
Keeping her grandmother there must be costly for Mrs. Thomas. How could she afford it?â
Celesteâs eyes narrowed. It was true that Millie had been part of the Thomas family for quite a while,
yet Celeste hadnât encountered her sick grandmother. This prompted her to visit the hospital and see
for herself.
âSummon Ethan to take me to the hospital.â
âOf course.â
Bria didnât expect Celeste to actually visit the hospital and meet Millieâs grandmother. This could be
quite beneficial. As Celeste left, Bria promptly informed Rhea.
Within the hospital room, Millieâs grandmother, fast asleep, found herself gently nudged. Upon
awakening, she saw a lady standing beside her bed.
âWho are you?â
Teresa was already aware of Celesteâs identity. âThis is Mrs. Thomas, Millieâs mother-in-law.â
Upon observing the mix of astonishment and delight on the older womanâs face, Celesteâs brows
furrowed.
The older woman excitedly addressed Celeste, âPlease have a seat. Teresa, fetch a glass of water for
her.â
âNo need, thank you. Iâm simply here to pay a visit.â
Celesteâs tone remained indifferent. Was this frail woman in the bed truly Millieâs grandmother? Celeste
had no interest in associating with someone so poor and ailing.
It seemed her luck had taken a downturn.
The older woman and Teresa were taken aback by Celesteâs refusal, yet in deference to Millie, the
older woman humbly implored, âMrs. Thomas, please pardon Millieâs actions. She is a dutiful child and
will undoubtedly show you the utmost respect.â
This portrayal contradicted Millieâs previous descriptions. Millie had painted Mrs. Thomas as a kind and
affectionate figure. Once again, Millie obscured the truth to spare her grandmotherâs worries.
âRespect me? What can she do? A foolish girl. Her actions only serve to vex me. Itâs only through some
divine intervention that she managed to marry Marcus.â
Celeste retorted with disdain in a sharp tone.
Teresa awkwardly rubbed her hands and said, âI should go check on the doctor. Why hasnât he come
here today?â
The conversation was growing harsh, making her feel like an outsider who shouldnât be listening.
