Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 599
With fierce intensity, Marcus glowered at her and uttered in a cold tone, âLeave.â
âOf course.â
Placing the lunch box on the bench, Bria hastened away. After a brief interval, she found her thoughts
swirling in her mind. As she navigated the hallways, she cast furtive glances around the wards, a shiver
cascading down her spine.
Word had it that Millieâs remains were preserved within these hospital walls.
Upon learning of Millieâs demise in the explosion, Bria harbored an apprehension that the departed
would retum to exact vengeance upon her.
While passing an unoccupied stairwell, she surreptitiously retrieved a handful of paper money and
secreted herself within the shadows. Glancing around to ensure she was alone, she procured a lighter
and ignited the paper money, whispering something.
âMillie, please spare me. Iâm offering you this money to use in the afterlife. Iâll burn more for you later.
And remember, your death wasnât at my hands. I merely played a minor role. I beg you, spare me from
your visitations.â
Behind her, the sound of Marcusâ footsteps drew nearer, but Briaâs nerves were so rattled she couldnât
perceive it.
Standing at the stairwell, Marcus observed Bria hunched over, setting paper money ablaze in the dim
ochre light.
âWhat are you doing?â Marcus questioned, with a touch of incredulity in his tone.
Startled, Bria spun around to see Marcus towering on the stairwell, a figure resembling the lord of the
underworld. Fright gripped her, and she scrambled to her feet. ir. Thomas, when did you arrive?â
âAre you burning paper money for Millie? Are you afraid sheâll come after you? Did you kill her?â
Marcusâ gaze tured frosty and menacing. Bria trembled, struggling to keep her composure. Sheâd just
been beseeching Millie not to haunt her.
Wide-eyed, Bria quickly refuted, âNo, no, itâs not me. I didnât harm Mrs. Thomas. I was only burning
paper money to ensure she had enough in the afterlife.â
Briaâs explanation was cut short as Marcus seized her throat, pressing her against the cold railing of
the staircase.
âEnough of this nonsense! What did you do to Millie? Why bum paper money for her? Speak up now;
my patience is wearing thin.â
âMr. Thomas, please, I truly havenât harmed Mrs. Thomas.â
Stubbornness colored her words.
âVery well, then Iâll simply toss you off this ledge and leave you to your fate.â
Bria dangled precariously, her upper body suspended in the air. Faced with Marcusâ intense gaze, she
was horrifiedâplummeting from this height would surely lead to her demise.
âMr. Thomas, spare me; Iâll confess! I never liked Mrs. Thomas, so I intentionally placed fish bones in
her dish when she wasnât looking, causing your mother to choke.â
Suddenly, Marcusâ emotions surged. âYou did it?â
