Chapter 600
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Guilt flooded his chest as Marcus realized he had unjustly blamed Millie.
In the end, he released his grip on Bria. She crumbled to her knees, entreating, âIâm so sorry. I never
shouldâve harmed Mrs. Thomas.â
âWhat else did you do to frame her?â
With a trembling voice and a lowered head, Bria confessed, âI accidentally broke the vase in the study,
but I manipulated it to make it seem like Mrs. Thomas did it.
Please forgive me, Mr. Thomas.â
Marcus, understanding heâd misunderstood Millie yet again, was distressed.
But it was too late for the truth to matter.
The true villain was Bria all along, who had driven Marcus to lose faith in Millie.
Now she was begging for clemency.
Had he not driven Millie away, she wouldnât have perished in the explosion. If he had informed her
about the negotiations with Leon in advance, she wouldnât have rashly exchanged herself for Lois.
At that moment, Derek approached and glanced at Bria kneeling on the floor, puzzled yet not probing.
âMr. Thomas, Iâve learned that Mrs. Thomas knelt before Leon until dawn on the night before the
accident.â
âKneeling?â
âYes, she knelt and pleaded with Leon to operate on her grandmother, but he refused. Heâs heartless.â
Hearing this, Marcus was ready to confront Leon. Heâd never made Millie kneel.
Leonâs cold demeanor was clear, yet Millieâs actions now made sense. She wasnât foolish, but rather
comered, forced to barter herself for Lois to save her grandmother. suddenly, Marcusâ fist collided with
the wall, drawing blood from his hand.
As he left the staircase, Marcus stated, âReturn home; Iâll address your actions later.â
Amid the nocturnal quiet, Marcus sat on the corridor bench, dazedly opening his eyes. Ina fleeting
vision, he believed he saw someone resembling Millie passing by.
Startled, he opened his eyes wide and cried out, âMillie, donât go.â
Yet Marcusâ eyes were fully open, and there was no trace of Millie in the corridor.
Instead, a passing nurse was startled by his abrupt outburst, causing her tray to fall and the bottles and
jars to shatter on the floor.
Resting his head against the wall, Marcus contorted his face in anguish. He had just encountered a
hallucination.
