Chapter 703
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âOkay.â A smile brightened her face.
Suddenly, Millie was alerted to a snapping sound and tured to look toward the noise. She spotted
Bruce standing under a tree roughly ten meters away, beckoning to her.
Millie blinked, feeling confused. Was he signaling to her?
âGrandma, I see a friend over there. Allow me to go over and talk to him for a moment,â Millie told her.
As she approached, Bruceâs face broke into a warm smile. He had known that by visiting the hospital,
there was a chance he might run into Millie.
Millieâs confusion was evident. âAre you looking for me?â
âMillie, Iâve heard that Marcus has been injured, and it appears to be quite serious. I havenât seen him
around in the past few days. How is he faring?â Bruce inquired, his concern for Marcus becoming clear.
Millieâs feelings of indignation surged, and she shook her head, replying dismissively, âHis wound
healed quite some time ago. Heâs in perfect health now.
âThereâs no need for concern.â
Bruceâs expression tumed to one of bewilderment. âHeâs already recovered?â
âWhy does that surprise you?â
âMillie, are you positive that Marcusâ wound has truly healed?â Bruce asked once more, seeking
assurance.
Millie nodded in affirmation. âYes, itâs healed.â
The wound had looked both deep and painful, but if it were still troubling Marcus, he surely wouldnât
have found the time to deceive her.
Bruce pondered her words before nodding in agreement. âYouâre right. Knowing Marcus and his
physical strength, what injury could truly be an issue for him?â
Meanwhile, in his private room, Marcus grabbed a nearby bottle of liquid, visibly annoyed.
âWhat kind of medicine is this? Itâs completely ineffective.â
Derekâs brow creased in concern. âThe director mentioned that had it been any other wound, the fever
would have already subsided. The real issue is the severity of your wound. Without appropriate care,
the fever will persist.â
Marcus reached up to touch his forehead, anxiety apparent in his movements.
Derek proposed, âMr. Thomas, perhaps we should consider going to Raven Island?
They may have a means to treat you there.â
Marcus closed his eyes as he responded, âDerek, now that Iâve taken on the role of a husband, I want
to distance myself from that island and act responsibly.â
