Chapter 72
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Chapter: 72
âMillie, watch your attitude! Iâm here.â Hands on her hips, Gianna vented her annoyance.
âWhat's the matter?â
Millie shot a cursory glance at Gianna and responded in a disinterested tone. She didnât think anything good could come from
this visit. Millieâs mind was preoccupied with thoughts of how to navigate the upcoming birthday party.
Gianna was taken aback by Millieâs cold reception. âMind your tone. Who gave you the right to act as the hostess of the Thomas
family?â Gianna retorted. âDonât forget, you were discarded by the Brown family. Your standing here with the Thomases isnât
much better.â
Shocked and irate at Millie's detached demeanor, Gianna couldnât believe Millie had looked down on her.
âAre you done? If so, you may leave.â
âUnbelievable! Do you want me to leave? Donât forget, your marriage to Marcus only happened because of my intervention.
Without me, he wouldâve ended up with Mia, not a bitch like you!â Gianna had always disliked Millie, and her resentment
deepened when she discovered that the man Millie married wasnât actually disabled. Despite all her calculated machinations,
she had reaped no benefits for herself.
Upon hearing the news that Marcus wasnât disabled, she was so enraged that she fainted. The idea of her giving a vast fortune
to Millie, someone she considered inferior, was a reality she found hard to swallow.
âWhy are you two just standing there? Escort her out!â Millie gestured dismissively at the two bodyguards and ordered.
The bodyguards stepped forward, positioning themselves in front of Gianna. âPlease follow us. If you refuse, we'll have to use
force.â
âMillie, are you seriously kicking me out? |...â
Before she could finish, the bodyguards had grabbed Giannaâs wrists, pulling her towards the exit.
Understanding she was at a disadvantage, Gianna felt her face flush with embarrassment. This woman, sheltered under Marcusâ
protection, treated her like a criminal, dictating commands. Yet, Gianna reassessed the situation and managed a smile. Things
were indeed different now.
â| visited you because Claudia Thomas is hosting a birthday party today. Would you spare two invitations? | would like to bring
Mia to the party,â Gianna requested.
Considering Giannaâs ambitions to mingle with the elite, her request for invitations wasnât surprising. However, Millie couldnât
confess that she was uncertain about how to secure the invitations herself.
âInvitations for the party were distributed quite some time ago. You ought to realize that such functions donât wait until the last
minute to send out invites,â Millie retorted.
She wasnât about to foolishly confess her inability to attend the event; such an admission would undoubtedly incite Giannaâs
mockery.
â| donât care. You need to figure out how to get Mia and me into the party. Letâs not forget that your grandmother is waiting for my
brother to perform her surgery,â
Gianna demanded imperiously.
âWe had a deal. Once | wed into the Thomas family, Joel would handle my grandmother's surgery, no strings attached. | need to
get dressed and head out. You should leave promptly.â
With that, Millie stood up swiftly and dashed upstairs, eager to avoid any further interaction with Gianna.
Gianna tried to follow, but the path was obstructed by the two bodyguards.
