Chapter 894
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âMillie, what brings you here? Trying to play the benevolent one?â Laurel, who was present, sneered at
Millieâs arrival.
Roland shot Laurel a sharp glare.
âLaurel, you can leave now.â
Noticing that Roland was siding with Millie, Laurel stopped peeling her apple and slammed it onto the
table.
âRoland, how can you treat me this way? I know you got hurt saving Millie. Why bother being nice to
her now that sheâs married? I wish she were gone.â
âEnough! What I do is my business, not yours!â
Rolandâs voice rose as he scolded, frustration evident in his tone. His sister knew he was fond of Millie,
but maliciously harmed Millie with a poison bug. Ever since that incident, his feelings toward Laurel had
cooled.

Additionally, upon her return, Laurelâs behavior became demanding and unbearable; she expected to
be treated like royalty by the entire family.
As Roland berated her, tears welled in Laurelâs eyes, Driven by his concern for Millie, he sent Laurel
away. If not for their shared past, she wouldnât have paid then a visit in this backward village.
âOkay, fine; I will leave you alone.â Gathering her bag, Laurel hurried out of the room.
Exiting the room, she spotted Marcus waiting at the door for Millie. Intimidated by his imposing
presence, she quickly fled.
Back in the room, Roland glanced at Millie with regret in his eyes.
âI apologize for her impulsiveness earlier. Donât take it personally,â he said, before noticing the fruit in
Millieâs hand.
âYou didnât need to buy that; Iâm not a fan of fruit. Save your money next time you visit.â
Millie smiled, placing the fruit on the table.
âAre you feeling any better?â
âMuch better; it doesnât hurt a bit. Iâd leave the hospital now if the doctors would let me,â Roland replied
with confidence.
âDonât be in a hurry; stay a few more days to ensure a full recovery.â âWhy would someone want to kill
you?â he asked, concern in his eyes,
Millie shrugged, dismissing his worries.
âItâs a complicated tale, but thereâs no need to fret. He wonât be coming back.
That was reassuring, yet Roland couldnât shake his concern. A thought crossed his mind that a man
should never engage in violence against a woman.
Millie glanced toward the door, aware that she couldnât keep Marcus waiting, âIâLL be leaving tomorrow,
Take care, and Iâll see you when I return.â
The news that Millie was departing soon caused Rolandâs eyes to dim with disappointment.
He had been harboring feelings for her, and though he knew pursuing her was futile, he couldnât help
feeling downcast.
