Chapter 902
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
Marcus shifted his gaze to the window.
âYou mustnât do anything to Millie. Donât be foolish and let yourself be manipulated by women again.â
The Barker family held a prominent position in Preagend, and since the elders of both families had a
good relationship, Marcus wouldnât kill Darin.
Breaking his legs was punishment enough.
Rheaâs actions were becoming increasingly ruthless. Simultaneously, she seemed to be pushing
herself into a corner.
âWhat do you mean?â Darin asked, sensing that Marcusâ words were hinting at something.
Darin recalled that when he woke up that morning, his mother had informed him that Rhea wanted to
cancel their engagement, claiming she didnât want to marry someone disabled.
At the time, he believed it was because heâd failed to complete her task and felt it was unfair to expect
her to marry a disabled man.
Upon reflection, he realized Rhea had planned to end the engagement early.
If he had killed Millie, Rhea would surely have told Marcus, and Marcus likely would have killed him.

âI always thought I was intelligent, but I never expected to be deceived by the woman I love. Sheâs so
malicious. Thank goodness I didnât marry her,â Darin said, his voice filled with anger and sorrow.
In his frustration, he thumped his leg heavily.
Millie, who had been listening at the door, retreated and headed back to her car. But after taking only a
few steps, she encountered Rhea.
âMillie, what are you doing here?â
Rheaâs face twisted into a hostile expression upon seeing Millie.
âYou manipulated Darin in an attempt to kill me. His plan failed, and now heâs lost his legs. Let me
consider what your next move might be,â Millie responded, anger flashing in her eyes. Rheaâs
obsession with killing her had driven the woman to madness.
âYou plan to force Darin to propose breaking off your engagement, right? You never intended to marry
him,â Millie continued, her voice cold.
Rheaâs face darkened as she realized Millie had guessed correctly.
âI donât know what youâre talking about. What do you mean, âI want to kill youâ? Donât be absurd. I canât
understand whatâs gotten into you lately.â
âGod is watching us, Rhea. Your punishment will come,â Millie warned.
âDonât try to scare me, Millie. Mark my words: youâll be the ultimate loser. No matter how much love you
and Marcus share now, it will all vanish, and youâll be left in agony.â
When Rhea thought of what Bolton had told her last night, her expression became very complicated.
Last night, after listening to Boltonâs words, she was also shocked.
Bolton told her that Marcus had a fatal wound on his body, and he would soon die. There was no
medicine to save him. The hopeless situation would change the entire Thomas Group.
âYou dream of this every day, donât you? Honestly, I pity you, living in your fantasies,â Millie retorted,
turning to leave. As she walked away, she felt a pang of unease. Rheaâs determined eyes seemed to
foretell something ominous.
