Chapter 984
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âKeep tracking her. Weâll act when the opportunity arises.â
After Emerie left, Nancyâs anger flared once more. Grabbing her pen, she resolved to design the starry
sky series.
The next day in the countryside, Millieâs grandmother asked her to pack up and return to Preagend.
âMillie, Iâm fine. You should head back to work.â
Millieâs hesitation was clear. Despite her pending design work, she wanted to remain with her
grandmother.
Bruce caught Millieâs uncertainty and approached, saying, âI havenât eaten enough here, and grandma
wants to send me away?â
The grandmother looked embarrassed. It was Bruceâs first time in the countryside, and she was already
pushing him away. How thoughtless of her.
âI was inconsiderate. The weather is fine today, Millie. Why donât you take Bruce for a walk nearby?â
Millie and Bruce strolled to a sprawling grassland. After Millie settled on the lawn, Bruce sat beside her,
resting his chin on his hand as he studied her.

âYouâre pondering the jewelry design for a wedding. Are you worried youâll run out of time when you get
back?â
Millieâs eyes widened as she turned to him. How did he know about the wedding jewelry? Had he been
spying on her?
Bruceâs wicked smile suggested he knew her thoughts.
âI know even more. Care to hear some secrets about Marcus?â
He clearly admitted to watching her.
Millieâs brow furrowed.
âI donât want to know. Iâm not interested in your affairs.â
Though curiosity tugged at her, she knew that understanding the cousinsâ differences wouldnât help
mend their relationship.
Bruce was taken aback by Millieâs lack of interest. He snapped his fingers, a bit surprised. Wasnât it
said that women were inherently curious?
âSmart,â he commented.
Millie picked up a branch, drawing a circle, a flower, and a sun.
She soon moved the branch away, revealing the word âMarcus.â
Bruceâs eyes narrowed as he teased, âYouâre lovesick. Itâs only been a day, but you miss your husband
that much?â
Observing the word she had written, Millie was equally shocked.
Hadnât she been drawing flowers and grass? How had she managed to write the name âMarcusâ?
