Chapter 988
Substitutee Marriage: Fallingg For My Ugly Wifee
âI donât have time to explain now. Stay here and donât leave,â he instructed.
As Bruce moved to exit the room, something caught his eye. He halted, his hand still on the doorknob,
and turned back to face Millie.
Leading her to the center of the room, he gestured to a black flowerpot on a shelf. Above it hung a sun
lamp, illuminating a strange green and black plant, brimming with thick juice.
Millieâs curiosity was piqued; she had never seen such a plant before.
As she reached out to touch it, Bruceâs hand shot out, stopping her.
âDonât touch it,â he warned, his voice filled with urgency. âItâs not an ordinary plant. Itâs highly
poisonous.â
Highly poisonous! The notion that a plant could be highly toxic occupied Millieâs thoughts.
It was the Bloody Herb.
When Bruce had departed Raven Island, he had taken a seedling of the Bloody Herb with him. To keep
it alive, he had put forth tremendous effort.
The roomâs temperature, humidity, and air composition had to remain constant. Even a minor alteration
in these conditions could cause the Bloody Herb to wither.
This room was considered off-limits in this place.
The blade that had wounded Marcus had been coated with its juice.
The sole purpose of this room was to cultivate this unique plant.

Millie had never encountered a plant that could exude such a vibrant shade of green.
Upon surveying the room, Millie discerned that it was exceedingly cold and damp, and all the windows
were firmly sealed with planks, allowing no trace of the outside world to penetrate.
âI canât even touch it?â
Millie questioned Bruceâs claim. How could such a small plant possess such potent poison?
Bruce scratched his head, as if looking for a way to convince Millie of the plantâs deadly nature.
He reached for a white mouse nearby, picked up scissors, and snipped off a leaf from the Bloody Herb.
After he rubbed the leaf against the mouseâs skin, a horrifying sight unfolded. The body of the white
mouse immediately turned black, its skin festering.
In less than a minute, the white mouse was dead.
Millie wrapped her arms around herself, terror flashing in her eyes.
The leaf had merely grazed the mouse, and it had succumbed so quickly. This plant was indeed highly
poisonous; even a slight touch could prove fatal.
âDonât touch it. Wait here for me to return,â Bruce instructed, his voice firm.
After he had gone, Millie found the room unbearably cold.
