[Chapter 19 - The Mute Alpha]

*Unknown POV*

I glanced at myself in the mirror. Green eyes stared back at me. My face shaven, a little bit of stubble left. My onyx hair was recently cut, so it wasn't long. A black button up and slacks covered my rock-hard body.

"Don't I look sexy?" I smirked at myself. "The ladies are going to love me."

"You're so arrogant," one of my cousins spoke up from my door. I turned to see Jamie looking at me with a disgusted look on her face. She had her raven hair falling in curls and she wore a tight red dress that made me feel a little uncomfortable.

"It's not my fault I find myself attractive," I replied, following her out of the room.

"Well maybe you should keep it to yourself like a normal person," my other cousin Amelia piped up as she stepped out of her room. She crossed her arms over her navy blue dress that looked very similar to Jamie's. It's almost frightening that they're not twins. They look so much alike.

"Hey, if I wasn't your cousin, you'd be drooling like a lovesick puppy," I pointed out, smirking at Amelia.

Her face scrunched up in disgust and she started making gagging noises. "I think I just threw up a little."

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. We all walked down the stairs where we met their parents. My Aunt was fixing her hair while looking in the mirror while my Uncle kept telling her to hurry up.

"Women," I muttered as I walked passed him. He laughed at my comment while Aunt Caroline gasped and smacked my arm.

"You've got a lot of room to talk," Jamie said, smacking me on the back of the head. I muttered some curses at her, earning a glare from my Aunt.

Soon we left the house, making our way to the beach where the ceremony for the new Luna was being held. Everyone  was gathering at the beach to celebrate the joining of the Alpha and his mate.

It was kind of weird seeing this many people for one event. I just moved here yesterday from Texas because my mom said that I needed a break away from my friends. Apparently I wasn't "behaving like a gentleman", so she forced me to move in with my aunt and uncle, thinking time away from my friends would help me mature. It's not my fault women love throwing themselves at me.

Suddenly my stomach cramped up as we got closer to the beach and my eyebrows furrowed. "Are you okay?" Jamie asked, concern washing over her face when she noticed me stop walking.

"Of course I'm fine," I brushed her off. She didn't look convinced, but she let it go.

The closer we got to the beach, the weirder the pit of my stomach felt. I felt the need to vomit, but I held it in as I released a sharp breath.

When we reached the beach, we sat down in some seats centered in front of a decorated stage. My cousins gawked at the decorations while I scrolled through my phone.

"Put that thing away," my aunt scolded as she snatched my phone out of my hands. I rolled my eyes and shoved my hands in my pockets.

Soon the seats were filled and people were chatting animatedly, excitement dancing in their eyes.

"Are you sure you're okay? There's sweat on your face," Amelia asked. It was true. Beads of sweat trickled down my forehead and I was forced to wipe it away. What the hell is happening?

"Fever?" I replied, not really sure what to tell her since I didn't know either.

"Are you stupid? You know how rare it is for a werewolf to get sick with a common cold."

I shrugged my shoulders and focused on the stage in front of us. The first person I notice is the Alpha. He stood on the stage with power. He definitely looked extremely powerful despite not having the ability to talk.

Soon his super hot mate appeared next to him, wearing a light blue dress of some sort. He reached out and grasped her hand. He smiled at her and pressed a kiss to her cheek. "She's hot," I muttered to myself.

Amelia heard my little comment and she scoffed. "Keep it in your pants, mister. You're ruining our moment." She dazed at the couple on the stage in envy.

"Our? It's their's not yours."

"Shut up and watch," she whisper-scolded me.

I did what she said and turned my attention back to the ceremony. Next, another guy appeared on the stage next to his Alpha. My eyebrows shot up when that weird feeling intensified to the point of me clutching my stomach.

"Fuck," I cursed, earning a stern look from someone in front of me. Jamie's eyes darted to me in question.

"What is the matter with you?"

I ignored her as I sank lower in my seat. My wolf paced around in my head, giving me a headache. I shouted at him to cut it out, but he didn't listen.

The man cleared his throat and everyone fell silent. Who was this guy? He wasn't the Alpha. Then he started talking, his voice loud and strong, filled with confidence.

I leaned over to Amelia and asked, "Who is that?"

"That's Theo. Alpha Jaxton's Beta. They're basically brothers. They've been through a lot together. Apparently he was there during the accident."

"Yeah, and he's extremely hot. However, he hooks up with a lot of girls, so he's basically unavailable since he's always booked," Jamie jumped in with a pout.

Soon the ceremony ended and everyone cheered as their new Luna smiled back at them.

"Let's go get food," Amelia said, tugging on my arm. I followed her towards the buffet tables that stood on a platform. We grabbed some plates of food before heading towards one of the round tables away from the crowd of dancing people.

"This place is absolutely beautiful," Jamie commented as she took a bite of her pasta salad. "I would love to have my wedding here when I get married to my mate."

"If you get married," I butted in.

"Shut up," she pouted, attempting to throw a pasta at me and missing. I stuck my tongue out at her and she flipped me off. "Fuck you."

"Every girl does," I smirked.

She gagged and muttered some curses under her breath. Something about shoving my dick up my ass.

As we ate, two guys came over and asked Jamie and Amelia to dance with them. Without even the slightest hesitation, they took up their offers and pranced off to the dance floor.

I slouched in my seat and continued eating my food. I noticed a couple girls eyeing me and I winked at them. They giggled and walked away, probably hoping I'd follow them. I wasn't in the mood, however, so I continued to eat until I felt the presence of someone sitting down next to me.

"Hi," the person spoke up. I glanced up and saw the Luna smiling at me. The features on her face were more visible and I would be lying if I said she wasn't absolutely beautiful. The Alpha sure got himself a good one.

"Hey," I responded, trying not to stare at her too long. The idea of her mate lurking around and seeing me stare at what's his didn't seem very appealing at the moment.

"What's your name?" she asked.

"Kian."

"That's a nice name."

"Uh...thanks?" I wasn't sure where this conversation was going and I was extremely confused as to why the Luna was trying to make small talk with me. I had no idea what to say.

"Did you just recently move here? I was told by the Alpha that you're a new face."

My head darted around. Is he watching us? "Uh...yeah. I moved here yesterday," I replied nervously. I wasn't sure how possessive the Alpha was, and I really wasn't in the mood to find out.

"Where are you from?" Luna asked, curiosity laced in her voice.

"Texas."

"That's cool. I'm from up north. So this warm weather is kind of new to me."

I slowly nodded my head, not really sure what else to say. I don't usually talk this much to other girls. I'm usually doing something else.

A voice cleared their throat and my eyes shot up. A tall, muscular man stood behind the Luna, his hand placed on her shoulder in a gentle manner. It was the Alpha. Power radiated off of him, automatically making me submit to him.

"Alpha," I mumbled and bowed my head respectfully.

He didn't respond, not that I expected him to. He just eyed me before sending his gaze to his mate, adoration flashing over his dark eyes. He leaned down and pressed a quick kiss on her forehead, making he cheeks turn red.

I awkwardly scratched the back of my neck, not really sure what to do. I definitely did not want to be the third wheel.

I really need to get laid.

"I um...I have to go. Thank you for the nice chat, Luna," I mumbled, standing up from my chair.

She smiled up at me. "It was a pleasure. I hope you like it here. You're a part of this family."

I waved goodbye and left. My eyes wandered over the girls dancing, zeroing on their asses as they swayed their hips to the beat. As I was approaching a really hot chick, I crashed into someone and we fell over.

We both fell to the ground, me on top. "What the fuck?" the person underneath me cursed as he stirred beneath me.

My breath got caught in my throat when a strong, masculine scent reached my nose and soothed the aching pain and sickening feeling I felt earlier.

My eyes widened as I stared down at the man below me. He, too, was shocked as his eyes were as wide as saucers, his face pale.

I pushed myself off of him and tugged at my hair. What the hell is going on? What just happened?

The man stood up once I was off of him and it was then that I realized it was the Alpha's Beta, Theo. My mouth went dry as we stared at each other in pure horror.

My wolf, on the other hand, felt the complete opposite. He was happy and excited, yelling "mine". Shit. This cannot be happening.

He must've been thinking the same thing as a dark, angry, and confused expression covered his very masculine face.

"I'm not gay," I blurted out, scratching the back of my neck.

"I'm obsessed with women," he replied awkwardly. I tried my best to ignore how I no longer felt sick and that my body felt quite the opposite. It didn't make any sense.

Silence lingered in the air as we stood awkwardly, not knowing what to do. I wasn't sure if this was some sort of sick joke the Moon Goddess was pulling. Did I do something wrong? Did I piss her off?

All I knew at this one moment, my life would be changing.
