Chapter 1239

Just when Sherry wanted to answer, Celine suddenly turned and hid behind the trees.

Sherry immediately held her breath and peeked through the gaps in the bushes and trees.

Two figures walked out of the event hall and were walking along the garden by the main path. John was in the lead while Julie

was following him.

Julie asked, “John, are you going to see Ms. Fowler?”

John glanced at her. “What’s the matter?”

Julie said in a small voice, “Nothing really. | just saw that Shannon's got a little condition tonight, so | was thinking if you could

just check on her.”

“I've made it clear between me and her. If you sympathize with her, you can go check on her yourself.”

It was Shannon‘s choice to stay, and since she could not give up on the title of Mrs. Stockton, she would have to play the role

properly and be resolute enough to take on the responsibility that came with it.

“Okay, | understand.” Julie stopped following him.

John continued into the dark and soon disappeared from Julie‘s sight. He seemed to be heading towards the

employees’ quarters.

After Julie went back inside the event hall, Sherry bolted up.

Celine anxiously called out to her, “What are you doing?! Stay low!”

Sherry said coldly, “John is looking for me. If you are not bringing me away, he will find out soon.”

Celine‘s expression changed. She said, “Just stay low! I'll go ask the madam for further instructions.”

As she ran back into the event hall, Sherry unwillingly squatted down and continued to stay low.

A few minutes later, Celine came running out. She tossed a set of clothes to Sherry and said, “Get changed. We're leaving now.”

There was a trench coat and a pair of boots, plus a cap and a scarf.

Sherry took off the maid's uniform and put on the disguise. The huge trench coat covered even her ankles while the cap covered

her forehead, and the scarf was wrapped around her mouth and neck.

After she got dressed in the disguise, she came out from the bushes.

Meanwhile, the man took the cart to the employees’ quarters. He took a detour to the kitchen for some snacks

and wine before heading up.

He arrived in front of that particular room with the two bodyguards who opened the door for him.

The room was lit, allowing him to see ‘Sherry‘under the sheets, plus the dinner that was left idle on the table.

He furrowed his brows as he walked closer. He used the empty glass to tap on her head lightly through the sheets and called out

to her, “Sherry?”

There was no response.

He squinted. “Sherry, | brought wine and some snacks. If you wake up now, you'll get some, or I'll throw them all out.”

There was still no response from the person under the sheets.

His gaze changed. He put the glass down and pulled the sheets away. The woman curled up under the sheets was thinly

dressed, so the sudden tug startled her and finally woke her up from her unconsciousness . When she got a clear look at the

man, she was terrified and anxiously looked around. John‘s gaze went cold. “Where's Sherry?”
