Chapter 1392
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1392
No words could describe how adorable she looked.
Sherry could feel her heart beating so fast that it would shoot out of her chest.
The sweet and innocent face, and her adorable gait, this had to be her daughter that she had been thinking of day and night!
Sherry stared at her, completely dazzled.
Caprice stared back at her with a blank look on her face as if she was staring at an alien. Eventually, she began to babble, âAre
you a thief?â
Sherry was struck speechless.
She felt her voice caught in her throat for several seconds which felt like an eternity. After a while, she said with a quick smile,
âI'm not a thief, Iâm here for you.â
Caprice muttered, âBut | donât know you.â
Sherry found herself at a loss again. For a moment, she almost felt like crying.
After a while, she scrunched her nose and asked with a smile, âIs your name Caprice?â
Caprice bobbed her head up and down. âYeap.â
Sherry squatted close to her and stared into Capriceâs pearl-like eyes. âIs your fatherâs name John?â
Capriceâs eyes seemed to glow up upon hearing the mention of her father, she nodded again.
âYou have a grandmother and an aunt named Queenie, donât you?â
âHow do you know? Who are you?â Caprice looked at her curiously.
Sherry smiled faintly. âIâm-â
âCaprice?â Suddenly, the deep voice of a man vibrated from inside the lounge.
Sherry was taken with shock. She immediately darted toward and hid behind a large pot of plants placed at the corner of the
balcony.
It was rather dim out on the balcony and with the large pot keeping her out of view. She doubted that she would be spotted
unless someone gave her position away.
Caprice grew even more curious when she noticed how the stranger was behaving. She stared behind the pot, her eyes filled
with intrigue.
Meanwhile, the sound of approaching footsteps was getting louder.
Sherry put a finger to her lips and signaled for Caprice to stay quiet
She pleaded desperately with her eyes.
Caprice stood still and looked at her with what was vivid confusion on her face.
Sherry felt like her heart was about to lunge out of her chest.
She hoped that the child would have inherited her genetics and should be rather smart in situations such as_ these.
As sweat trickled down her forehead, the approaching footstep suddenly came to a stop right at the threshold connecting the
balcony to the interior of the lounge.
The lights inside cast a tall and slender shadow of a figure over the balcony.
Caprice suddenly turned around to look at her father, her back was now facing Sherry.
Sherry drew a deep breath and became stiff.
The manâs voice echoed across the balcony. âCaprice, what are you doing here? Why arenât you answering your father?â
Sherry watched as John crouched down to meet Caprice at eye level.
Since Caprice was facing Sherry with her back, all Sherry could only see was her silhouette from behind.
She was filled with so much nerves and agitation that she was having trouble breathing at this point. That was when she heard
the girl answer, âI couldnât hear you out here.â
John smiled and gently brushed her cheeks. âWhat are you doing here alone?â
âEating ice cream,â Caprice said as she handed the half- eaten ice cream to John. âTry it, Daddy, itâs very delicious, I'll let you
have some.â
Sherry could not hear Johnâs reply to this gracious offer but she could make out from the shadows that John had leaned into
Caprice and finished what remained of the ice cream in one large gulp.
She was suddenly consumed with a strange sensation. She looked on from the shadows with her brows knit together tightly.
After that, John thanked Caprice, âItâs delicious, thank you, my dear.â
Caprice smiled and answered endearingly, âYou're welcome, Daddy.â
John smiled and informed, âDaddy is done with work, shall we go home now?â
Caprice answered agreeably, âOkay.â
