Chapter 1394
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1394
The driver was spooked by Johnâs sudden cry and immediately sprang to the task. âYes sir, right away.â
Caprice shrank into her seat.
She
slowly scuttled over to Johnâs side and wrapped her tiny arms around Johnâs. âDaddy, is she a bad person? Donât be angry, | pro
mise to not talk to her again.â
John suddenly jolted back to his senses and realized that
he must have scared her with his sudden outburst.
He pressed Caprice to his chest so she would not see the severe look on his face.
After a moment, he took a deep breath and said softly, Iâm sorry Caprice. Did | scare you?â
Caprice weakly shook her head and muttered, âI donât want to make Daddy angry.â
John was relieved to hear this. âIâm not angry with you Caprice. This person isnât a bad person, but sheâs not exactly a good pers
on either. You'll understand when
you're older. Daddy just happened to lose his cool, Iâm doing fine now.â
âReally?â
âYes, really, | wouldnât lie to you.â
He said as he drew away from Caprice so he could take a look at her face.
Caprice immediately looked up and stared straight into his eyes.
John had recomposed himself and seemed like his usual self. He smiled affectionately at Caprice.
After noticing that her father had returned to his usual self, Caprice seemed very pleased as well.
John smiled. âDid | scare you?â
Caprice muttered, âHmm.
)
John quickly apologized, âItâs my fault, it wonât happen again.â
Caprice smiled and sunk into his arms.
John wrapped his arms around her, a dark glow returned to his eyes as he realized that they were nearing the clubhouse again.
Two years. You decided to return at last, Sherry Fowler.
Soon, the car stopped outside the clubhouse.
John put his arms around Caprice and instructed, âTell the staff that | lost something in there and have them seal off the entire bu
ilding immediately.â
The bodyguard nodded affirmatively and quickly got out of the car to make his way toward the clubhouse.
The security measures were implemented swiftly afterward. It did not take long before a crew of
bodyguards surged out of the building and cut off all the exit points.
Caprice looked at John again.
Johnâs expression immediately grew mild when he felt: Capriceâs
eyes on her. He turned to her and spoke gently, âDonât worry Caprice. The woman you saw just
now happened to have stolen something from Daddy some time ago so now we're going to find her.â
Caprice protested. âBut she said she wasnât a thief.â
John said without a change in expression, âShe lied to you.â
Caprice seemed upset by this. âIs she a liar?â
John explained patiently, âYes, sheâs very good at deceiving people, even Daddy fell for her tricks in the past. Itâs only natural that
liar, she won't get you again.â
âHmm.â Caprice nodded firmly.
John smiled warmly and carried her out of the car.
The moment he stepped out of the car, a sharp and authoritative look gleamed across his eyes.
At the same time as he was entering the clubhouse with
Caprice in his arms, a white car revved its engines in an adjacent parking lot and promptly swerved into the main road.
Inside the car, Sherry tried to calm her beating heart while urging the driver, âGo faster.â
âYou got it, miss.â The driver stomped the gas pedal.
The car quickly vanished from the street and merged into another part of the district.
They could no longer see the clubhouse through the rearview mirror.
Sherry breathed a sigh of relief.
The driver was quite familiar with Sherry and upon seeing her in this state, he casually enquired, âDid you find your target at last?
Sherry sighed sourly. âI sure did.â
