Chapter 1419
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1419
She would then text him via social media and continue to
curse him.
Ding!
Amessage had arrived.
He smiled and stroked the girlâs cheek while picking up his phone using his other hand. He received a text from a
certain chat window.
He tapped on it but noticed it was from Julie.
Slightly disheartened, he opened the chat window.
âJohn, itâs New Yearâs next month. Usually, the extended family will organize gatherings for us to attend, but Mother wants to
organize one ourselves this year. Sheâs planning to do it this weekend. She wants to invite those who are close to us and some
of her old friends. She wants to know if you can spare some time to bring Caprice over as well.â
He should be free this weekend.
John replied, âSounds like a plan. I'll bring Caprice.â
âJohn, do you have any ideas on how you want the gathering to be?â
âI'll leave it to you and Mother.â
âVery well.â
John did not put his phone away after the chat with Julie. He was friends with Sherry on multiple social media platforms, and he
had blocked her on only one of them. Given her feisty temper, she would never stop after being blocked and would continue to
annoy him through other channels.
Unless... She was frozen in the snow!
His eyes narrowed. He immediately said to the driver, Turn around!â
The driver nodded.
Caprice was scared by his sudden reaction and was worried about his nervous expression. She looked worried when she asked,
âDaddy, whatâs wrong? Did you lose something back there?â
John frowned. He hugged her tightly in his arms and said, âYeah, Daddy lost something back there, but itâs not important.â
âIf itâs not important, why are you so nervous?â the girl asked in curiosity.
John wanted to smile to show that he was not nervous, but for some reason, the muscles on his face were frozen and he could
not even force a smile.
It was still snowing outside.
(
Snow removers were at work. Both sides of the road were covered with thick layers of snow. It was below zero
degrees Celsius outside, and that woman just rode an electric scooter from the suburbs.
John could not help but picture her frostbitten face. He frowned.
âDrive faster!â
The driver accelerated even faster.
Ten minutes later, the car arrived where Sherry had fallen down with her scooter. However, only the scooter was in sight. She
was nowhere to be found. The snow only recorded the tracks from the scooter and where she fell but did not show where she
went.
âCaprice, wait for me in the car.â
John strapped her in the baby seat and got out of the car.
There were only a few souls on the road due to the snowy
weather.
Where could the woman be?
He looked around and noticed a little store near Sherryâs crash site. The store was still doing business in the harsh
weather.
He strode over there immediately, and Peter followed him.
The store owner was snacking while watching a show on the television when the handsomely dressed men appeared at his door.
He was surprised by their visit.
Peter asked, âDid you see a woman with a scooter crash in front of your store earlier? Do you know where she went?â
The owner regained his composure and said, âOh! You guys are the ones who spoke to the woman earlier, right? | remember
you with the umbrella.â
âYeah. We spoke to her before. After we left, where did she go?â Peter asked.
