Chapter 1450
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1450
Julie tightened the shawl around her shoulder and cautiously looked at John.
âJohn, are you okay?â
John stared at Sherry and Carl, who had disappeared into the hall, and curled his lips into a wry grin. âIâm fine. Letâs go in.â
The hall was a lot warmer.
Sherry returned Carl his jacket and thanked him. â Thanks.â
Carl put his jacket back on and winked at her. âYou're welcome.â
Sherry quickly grabbed a glass of wine and started sipping; Carl did the same.
Soon, someone came to greet them.
Carl was great at handling people. He used the least
words to send them on their way because those who came to mingle were trying to win his favors.
Sherry was an entirely different case. People came to greet her because they wanted to know her and even tried to ask her how
she helped the Sagers overcome the crisis. Due to privacy concerns, she did not reveal much but did not turn them away directly
either.
She simply picked the trivial matters to emphasize and then shifted the topic. After exchanging name cards, the others walked
away. She wore a polite smile throughout the process and tried to be as humble as possible.
Carl was like her steward following her around with a smile. He even helped her with her wine glass when she was exchanging
name cards.
Meanwhile, in a secluded corner, the manâs slender figure leaned on the wall lazily with a glass of wine in his hand while he
watched the womanâs every move. His deep gaze was glued to her, and his lips would curl from time to time.
The Sagers, Carl Sagers, and the mysterious person who helped the Sagers overcome the companyâs crisis.
The woman seemed to be full of surprises.
Sherry just sent a group of people on their way, but another group came to greet her.
After a few conversations and exchanging name cards,
Sherry wanted to settle down in a quiet corner for some wine. To her surprise, after sending the last group of people away, a
familiar person came to her.
âMs. Fowler. | didnât know you were the mysterious person that helped the Sagers.
Julie came to her with a glass of wine and a polite and gentle smile. She made it feel like they knew each other for a long time.
As soon as Julieâs words subsided, Carl asked, âSis, do you know her?â
Sherry said, âNo.â
Julie's expression froze.
Sherry continued to smile professionally and asked, â Miss, you do look quite familiar. Have we met before?â
Julie subtly clenched her teeth but tried her best to maintain her smile. âIâm Julie Weiss, Johnâs sisterâin- law. | was the host at
the Stocktonsâ event the other night. We met there. Donât you remember?â
She seemed intentional in picking on Sherryâs old wounds.
âAh, itâs coming back to me,â Sherry said. She then asked, âYou're Johnâs sister-in-law? Why didnât you change your last name
to Stockton?â
Julie looked disheartened.
Carl could not help but chuckle.
Julieâs expression turned bitter for a few seconds before she forced a smile. âItâs something to do with my late husband's
decision.â
âOh, | see, sister-in-law eh? Nice to meet you.â Sherry smiled professionally.
Julie choked on her false courtesy, and even her expression froze. âMs. Fowler, Young Master Sager, please excuse me.â
âSee you around,â Sherry said.
Julieâs gaze turned cold as she walked away.
