Chapter 1680
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1680
The door opened, and Sherry walked in with Caprice. John followed them in.
Sherry turned around to glare at him. He stopped and stood still in the living room like a monolith and kept his distance from the
mother and daughter.
Sherryâs grim expression eased up when John decided to act tactfully. She then smiled at Caprice and asked, âCaprice, are you
sleepy? Do you want to continue sleeping?â
Caprice sneaked a glance at John and then shook her head. âNo. Iâm not sleepy.â
âDo you want to have anything to eat?â
The girl shook her head.
âDo you want to play games?â
The girl continued to shake her head.
Sherry sighed helplessly. âThen, what do you want to do?â
Caprice leaned into her arms and said adorably, âI donât want to do anything. | just want to be with Daddy and Mommy.â She
stuck her cheek to Sherryâs chest, looking adorable and obedient.
Sherry patted the girlâs head. âOkay.â
She carried the girl to the couch and sat opposite John with her back turned. The girl could see John, but he would be away from
her sight.
However, the atmosphere got a little too quiet, and Sherry felt uncomfortable with the man staring at her from the back. A quick
thought later, she said to Caprice, âCaprice, why donât | play some stories for you?â
Caprice nodded and hummed a reply.
Sherry pulled her phone out. She had downloaded a lot of e-books for children.
When she first came back to Coastrock, she had a problem with insomnia, and it was the childrenâs storybooks that lullabied her
to sleep most of the time. All the storybooks that she listened to were Capriceâs favorites.
The voice that read the storybook sounded gentle and expressive.
Caprice fell asleep after listening to the stories for a while, and even Sherry started
yawning. She got up with Caprice and headed to the room.
John was standing by the wall, leaning against it. His hands crossed as he casually looked at her with a gentle gaze. It was as
though they were intimate.
Sherry coldly glanced at him before she went into the room with Caprice. She locked the
door from the inside before she carried Caprice to the bed.
Her apartment was close to the beach. When she opened the window, a soothing sea breeze would bless the room with a
refreshing scent.
Sherry hugged Caprice and fell asleep as the girlâs scent seemed to comfort her thoughts.
When Sherry opened her eyes, she found herself in a dark room. The sky was dark and the stars were shimmering.
Sherry reached out to her side but there was no one there. She quickly switched on the lamp.
She was the only one in the room. The door remained closed, but the lock seemed to have been tinkered with. She got up from
the bed, strode to the door, and opened it.
She looked outside into the living room and saw Caprice and John. Caprice was sitting on Johnâs lap in the well-lit living room.
She was munching on a piece of cake while watching cartoons on Johnâs phone.
The entertaining content on the phone put an adorable smile on the girlâs face.
Sherry walked out of her room.
When the father and daughter heard her footsteps, they turned to her.
âMommy...â Caprice called out happily.
Sherry smiled at her.
Caprice got up from Johnâs lap and walked over to her mother.
Sherry carried the girl into her arms and asked, âCaprice, when did you wake up?â
