Chapter 1693
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1693
Sherry stepped out of the elevator.
When Caprice spotted her, her eyes immediately glowed up and she cried out at the top of her voice, âMommy!â
She hopped toward her mother like a rabbit.
Sherry smiled brightly and greeted Caprice warmly, taking her into her sweet embrace.
Then she took the keys out of her pocket and went to unlock the front door, promptly stepping inside after unlocking the door.
She did not spare even a glance in Johnâs direction the entire time.
John frowned faintly before following her into the house.
Just like the past few days, Sherry bought plenty of ingredients using a food delivery service. Then she went to the living room to
watch cartoons with Caprice while they waited for the delivery.
After the ingredients were delivered, John went to collect the delivery and took the plastic filled with ingredients into the kitchen.
Since it was rather early for dinner, he only briefly prepared some of the ingredients and had not commenced cooking yet.
Caprice and Sherry were lazing around on the couch.
Caprice laid against Sherryâs arms and used it like a pillow, her eyes transfixed on the television screen, utterly mesmerized by
the cartoon show.
Sherry watched silently with her.
John suddenly approached and remarked casually, âThat car is pretty cool, isnât it?â
Sherry was visibly jolted when she heard this. She looked at John as if she had been shot.
John smirked and asked, âWhy did he give you the car?â
It appeared that he had seen everything.
Sherryâs eyes flashed with guilt, then she suddenly realized that there was no reason for her to be feeling this way since she had
no obligation to feel bound to John. Upon realizing this, her demeanor became cold and brittle again and she rebuked sharply,
âWhat does that have to do with you?â
If it was not for Caprice, she would not even entertain the idea of letting him into the house!
John smiled faintly and said calmly, âI was just curious.â
Sherry ignored him and diverted her attention back to the television.
âYou haven't answered me, why is he giving you a car?â he suddenly asked again.
Sherry frowned and shot a look at him. âCanât you shut up? Get out of here and stop bothering me!â
Her tone was cruel and vicious.
John grimaced.
Caprice suddenly turned to them and interjected. She tugged at Sherryâs clothes and pleaded softly. âMommy, donât be mean to
Daddy.â
Sherry immediately composed herself and apologized, âSorry, letâs just continue watching your show.â
âOkay.â
Caprice turned back to the television.
Sherry glared at John.
With a look that clearly said: Stop bothering me and get out of here!
John grimaced tightly and sat down on an adjacent couch.
Soon, the sky outside had darkened.
John set down the book he had been reading, got up from his seat, and asked Caprice, Caprice, what do you want to eat
tonight?â
Caprice announced brightly, âI want to eat meat!â
âOkay.â John smiled, then he turned to Sherry. âWhat do you want to eat?â
Sherry was not as receptive. âAnything works.â
âAlright.â
With that, he turned and went into the kitchen.
He put on the apron and began cooking.
Based on his appearance and his entire demeanor, one would never have the impression that this man was the kind to spend
time in the kitchen.
He seemed entirely downcast and somber as he operated in the kitchen.
Sherry felt a slight tightness in her chest when he observed Johnâs somber attitude. However, this pity only lasted a brief instant.
She soon turned away from him and left him to his own devices.
After some time passed, John presented them with a vast array of dishes as usual.
Caprice hopped off the couch and let the wonderful aroma of the food to guide her to the dining table. Sherry rose and followed
her.
Two vegetable dishes, two meat dishes, coupled with a soup.
The rice was still oozing hot steam.
He plated food for Sherry and Caprice first.
