“Huh?”

Sherry thought she heard John replying She wanted to pull her hands back to wipe her tears but one of her hands was caught.

She wiped her tears with one hand swiftly and then saw John looking at her gently.

He looked weak and pale, but he was awake!

Sherry’s eyes gleamed as she was surprised.

As though he was afraid that she would not keep the promise, he held her hand tightly. He smiled and said, “I heard what you

said just now. | know you will keep your promise, am | right?”

Sherry’s eyes flickered several times.

Seeing his eyes open and him talking to her made Sherry no longer feel less pain.

“| said it because | wanted you to wake up,” she said.

John’s expression changed. His brows furrowed and he looked like he was in pain. He lost his grip over her hand.

Surprised, Sherry immediately asked, “What’s wrong? Is your chest hurting?”

“My heart. It hurts...” he said feebly before his eyes closed once more.

Sherry got anxious.

Was it because of what she said?

She held his hand tightly and said nervously, “I was just joking! I'll Keep my promise! If you treat me well, I'll treat you well!”

John’s eyes remained closed.

Sherry got even more anxious. She was afraid that he would never wake up again. She wanted to call the doctor but before she

could, she felt the grip on her hand again.

She turned around and saw him smiling like a cunning fox.

“Okay I'll treat you well,” he said softly.

Sherry suddenly had the urge to punch him. She glared at him. “Let me go!”

He pursed his lips and feigned an innocent look. “You said you want to be with me.”

Sherry pursed her lips. “I’m going to inform the doctor to check on you.”

Since he had already woken up, the doctor should check on him again

John said with a smile, “It’s okay They checked on me already Before you came in.”

Cherry nodded but it dawned on her that something was wrong. She looked at him and asked. “How did you know the doctor

checked on you before | came in?”

John pursed his lips

Sherry frowned You already woke up before | came in

Sherry was agitated and baffled at the same time. If you are already awake, why did the doctor tell me to come in and

accompany you?”

“| told the doctor to let you come in,” he said with a smile.

Sherry was speechless. She wanted to pull her hand away, but he tightened his grip. She mustered all her strength but failed

nonetheless.

The little pull moved him closer to the edge of the bed. He frowned as if something hit him, but he remained smiling at her

Sherry exasperatedly sighed and sat back down.

John smiled at her

“Just you wait,” she glared at him. Once discharged, she ought to teach him a lesson!

Okay, I’m waiting,” John said with a smile.
