Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1857
Kenneth and the others were still stealing subtle glances at her.
âKenneth, are you sure it wasnât that mysterious guy who got President Michael fired?â one of
them voiced his suspicion.
Kenneth answered ruminatively, âI donât think so. She wouldnât be working here for us in the first place if she knew somebody
capable of pulling that off.â
âThatâs true. | wonder what happened at Swift Tech Corporation.â
â| have to give it to her. Sheâs smarter than | thought. At least, she knows to resign without having to be asked to.â
Kenneth remarked dryly, âWhat do you know? She does have some brains in her after all.â
Caprice quickly packed her belongings.
All of her belongings fit snugly in her backpack.
After she was done, she swiped a glance at Jonathan.
He looked like he was barely paying attention to Caprice as his eyes were transfixed on the computer display. His whole
demeanor was very stuck-up as if he considered himself too good to acknowledge her at all.
Caprice was going to say goodbye to him but decided against it when she noticed this. She picked up her backpack and
prepared to walk out.
âCaprice.â Moses suddenly stopped her.
She turned back to face him.
He walked up to her and offered kindly, âLet me see you off.â
Caprice smiled politely. âOkay.â
They left the office and stepped into the elevator.
Moses addressed her formally, âCaprice, even though you are no longer working for me, we can still keep in touch going forward.
If you need help with your studies or anything else, you know who to call.â
â| will. Thank you, Moses.â
Moses smiled faintly. âYouâre welcome.â
Ding!
The elevator stopped on the first floor, and they stepped out
Just as they were about to walk out of the building, the phone in Mosesâ pocket suddenly rang. He pulled the phone out of his
pocket and immediately frowned when he read the caller ID. He looked
troubled and hesitant to answer the call.
His reaction did not escape Caprice. She promptly turned to him and excused herself, âMoses, thanks for sending me off. The
school is just nearby, so | can cycle there myself. Iâm sure you have more work to do.â
There was a spark in Mosesâ eyes. He smiled and said to her, âAlright, letâs get dinner tonight. I'll treat you to something nice.â
âOkay.â Caprice accepted the invitation without a second thought.
Moses strode back into the building and answered the call.
Caprice walked along the side of the road, clinging the backpack tightly to her body. It was only a short walk to the bicycle stop.
She was just about to cross the road to get to the bicycle stop at the opposite end of the road when she noticed a familiar car
parked beside the road.
She read the license plate, and sure enough, it was Liamâs car. She cautiously approached the car and tried to spy inside to see
if there was anybody inside.
No luck. The windows were tinted and she could barely get a glimpse of its interior.
Just as she was about to gently tap against the window, it suddenly lowered by itself.
Liam's stout appearance was immediately revealed. His depthless dark eyes reflected the brightness of the sun. He spoke
calmly, âGet in from the other side.â
Caprice was delighted to see him. She walked around to the other side of the car and promptly got in.
