Caprice stated, “I’ve known Piper and Trey for a decade. Anything that has to do with them. directly concerns me as well.”

“Just friends? That's all?” Liam asked rather grimly.

She spotted a strange look at him, not understanding the reasoning behind his question. She answered sincerely, “Yeah, I’m very

close friends with them.”

“Is that all there is to it?” he asked again in an interrogative tone, a sharp look gleaming in his eyes.

She was thrown off by the question. “What else could there be?”

She was close friends with them. What more was she supposed to say about it? Her eyes grew

round and wide, filled with her usual naivety and innocence.

Liam scowled. “Nothing.”

“Well...can you help us?” She looked at him expectantly.

He informed her, “I already asked someone to talk to VV Entertainment. There should be news. soon enough.”

“You already sent someone to talk to them?” She was surprised to hear this.

“Yeah.”

“Then, why did you ask me to come here?” She was very puzzled.

He shot a look at her. “Why? Is this too much trouble for you?”

Caprice smirked and waved her hands from side to side while smiling playfully. “No, no.”

Liam leaned back on the couch and cast a look at her. He suddenly asked, “What have you been up to lately?”

She suddenly felt a pang of guilt. She felt like a student whose teacher was checking if she had done her homework.

“|...P've just been hanging out at the dormitory. | usually read during the day and then hang out with Frey and Piper at night. I’ve

been keeping a healthy sleep schedule lately.”

Liam asked seemingly out of curiosity, “What kind of books do you read?”

She avoided his gaze. “A lot of different books. | don’t remember their titles.”

“What kind of books? What are they about?”

She felt a lump grow in her throat. In fact, she hardly read at all and could not make something up even if she tried

“4. Wow, I’m getting a little tired” She made a show of yawning like a cat.

Liam observed her silently.

“Take a nap over there.” He motioned.

She frantically refused, “No, it’s alright. Frey and Piper are still waiting for me downstairs. I'll go back to the dormitory with them

and take a nap.”

He continued to stare at her. “My parents are coming back today. They should be home very soon Isabel and Flint are going to

be at home as well, so | figured | might as well join everyone. Do you want to come with me?”

Caprice was startled by the sudden invitation, and she stammered, “I...| haven’t prepared a gift. yet. How about next time?”

“You didn’t bring a gift the last time you came anyway.”

Caprice cringed at her terrible excuse and muttered, “Okay then, I'll tell Piper and Frey about it.” “Okay.”

Caprice reached for her phone, then she stepped aside to call Piper.

As soon as the call went through, she heard Piper shrieking with joy, “Caprice, my brother just called me and told me that VV

Entertainment contacted him and proposed to void the contract!” Caprice was delighted. “That's great!”

“He mentioned that someone has been putting pressure on VV Entertainment to terminate the deal. The chairman of VV

Entertainment even made a show of apologizing to my brother face-to- face and offered to continue working with my brother. My

brother ended up turning down the offer though, but the chairman didn’t seem too bothered about it. They canceled the original

deal and left things at that.”

After she finished her story, she asked curiously, “Caprice, was Liam the mysterious party who put pressure on VV

Entertainment?”

Caprice stole a glance at the man who was casually sipping tea on the couch and said with a smile, “Very likely. It turns out that

he already sent someone to talk to VV Entertainment before | even came here.”

“Thank you so much.”

“Don’t thank me. I’m the reason this happened in the first place.”

“Huh? What makes you say that?” Piper was confounded by this.

“Liam’s parents are coming back, so I’m going be visiting them later with him. Why don’t you go. home with Frey for now? I'll tell

you the full story when | get back.”

“Alright then. We'll be leaving.”
